The nu-metal group have a long history with the Donington Park festival, and sub-headlined the last day of 2024\u2019s edition, with <em>Kerrang!<\/em> suggesting that their set ultimately drew a bigger crowd than that year\u2019s actual headliners, Avenged Sevenfold.<\/p>\n<div class=\"td-a-ad id_inline_ad0 id_ad_content-horiz-center\"><span class=\"td-adspot-title\">Advertisement<\/span><\/div>\n<p>Having now topped the bill, Borland recently sat down with the <em>Gear4musicguitars<\/em> channel to discuss their growing popularity, which the interviewer compared to KoRn\u2018s success with the social media generation \u2013 which earlier this year \u2018Freak On A Leash\u2019 go viral on TikTok thanks to a dance trend involving\u00a0Zara Larsson.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re the biggest we\u2019ve ever been right now [as well],\u201d he agreed. \u201cIt\u2019s crazy. And I\u2019m not saying that in a cocky way. I\u2019m saying that, like, we can\u2019t believe it.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s just been \u2014 we\u2019re so lucky. But usually in the past, when we\u2019ve made a record, I go do lots of riff writing and then bring it in, and then we start building songs off of that. Or Fred will work on song ideas at home, and then we\u2019ll build off of that.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnd then sometimes we just start improvising. Or he\u2019ll go, \u2018Write the best thing you\u2019ve ever written right now, on the spot.\u2019 But some of that stuff happens. It\u2019s just like we lost a piece of our DNA\u2026 It\u2019s too hard to talk about right now in depth.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He continued: \u201cHe can\u2019t ever be replaced. We\u2019re so lucky for Richie\u2026 he\u2019s such a great player, and he\u2019s just a wonderful guy, and we\u2019re gonna hold onto him for as long as we can.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c[But] Sam is not a replaceable person. He was the heartbeat. It\u2019s very emotional talking about it. I think that last year when it happened, we were all kind of in shock, and now we\u2019re all grieving.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The band are performing various festival slots across Europe this summer, with appearances including slots at festivals including Louder Than Life\u00a0and Aftershock.
