Might be legs in this whole \u2018put modern eyes on old cars\u2019 business. Ian Callum\u2019s design consultancy \u2013 handily titled Callum Designs \u2013 has revealed its latest creation based on something called \u2018XJ220\u2019.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s the latest Callum \u2018portfolio project\u2019, meant as a design study showcasing what Ian Callum\u2019s design consultancy is capable of. We already know what Callum is capable of \u2013 like here<\/a>, here<\/a> and also very much here<\/a> \u2013 and once again… yep, it’s another stunner.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cA contemporary interpretation of one of the most iconic supercars ever made,\u201d said Callum. \u201cThis concept preserves the unmistakable silhouette of the original while redefining every surface, detail and proportion through a modern lens.\u201d<\/p>\n

So yes, there\u2019s the same basic outline of Jaguar\u2019s V6-engined speed machine, but with shorter, tighter overhangs to remove the old timer\u2019s flab, and an entirely new rear end that looks much sharper.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

We haven\u2019t been shown the front, so we cannot confirm whether Callum has kept the pop-ups of the original, or its \u2018you want me to do what<\/em>\u2019?\u2019 expression, but there\u2019s a new lower light bar at least. Plus aero-honed wheels, too.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Callum Portfolio XJ220 preserves the spirit of the original, reinterpreted with a sharper rear stance and refined contemporary detailing,\u201d Callum said. \u201cHonouring the past, not constrained by it.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Which fits the XJ220\u2019s vibe, anyway. Even before it was launched it was subject to changes from the original spec: you all know it was supposed to arrive with a fat 530bhp V12, but made do with a V6. That it wanted to hit 220mph, and managed 217.1mph, holding the record for the fastest production car. Right up until something called \u2018McLaren F1\u2019 gatecrashed the party.<\/p>\n
