Her hit track \u2018Truth Hurts\u2019 also reached Number One on the <em>Billboard<\/em> Hot 100.<\/p>\n<p>Now, she\u2019s responded to the commercial failure of the album after being asked to give a \u201cnon PR\u201d reaction during a new interview on the <em>Swiftologist\u00a0<\/em>podcast.\u00a0\u201cI was really stressed and really sad for a few days because this is some of my best stuff,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI had to come to terms with the fact that not only is the music industry different \u2013 we need to talk about the radio aspect \u2013 but also my relationship and my connection musically with the world is different. This follows the huge success of her previous LP and subsequent arena tour\u00a0(including\u00a0two sold-out shows at London\u2019s O2), as well as\u00a0a massive Pyramid Stage slot at Glastonbury 2023.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe industry changed so much in the last 3 yrs,\u201d she wrote. \u201cStreaming replaced radio &amp; I was a radio darling. That\u2019s how my fans discovered my music. Not to mention the very obvious &amp; public attack on my career changed things.<\/p>\n<div class=\"td-a-ad id_inline_ad2 id_ad_content-horiz-center\"><span class=\"td-adspot-title\">Advertisement<\/span>  <\/p>\n<div id=\"div-gpt-ad-article-2\" class=\"lazy-ad\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>Lizzo had previously hit out at the \u201cracist\u201d and \u201cfatphobic\u201d algorithms\u00a0for \u201cdestroying the music industry\u201d\u00a0and hampering her album promotion.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBack in the day, which was maybe even just five years ago, we used to get things chronologically,\u201d she wrote.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMusic marketing relies heavily on social media, but now, ever since the algorithm has been showing us things out of order, there\u2019s actually no way to successfully promote an album where everyone knows your album is coming.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s also been suggested by some that her failure to crack the charts stems from a series of controversies surrounding her in recent years.<\/p>\n<p>A lawsuit was filed against Lizzo in 2023 by Arianna Davis, Crystal Williams and Noelle Rodriguez, who made allegations of sexual harassment and a hostile work environment during their time working with the singer between 2021 and 2023.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p>Lizzo has denied all of the allegations.\u00a0She recently vowed to keep fighting the lawsuit brought by her three former backup dancers, claiming that \u201cthe truth is less salacious than the headlines\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>In October 2023,\u00a0Lizzo described the suit as a \u201cfabricated sob story\u201d and filed her own motion asking the court to dismiss it, alleging that the dancers had shown a \u201cpattern of gross misconduct\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Last month, Lizzo acknowledged her new social media promo strategy surrounding \u2018Bitch\u2019, saying she\u2019d been \u201cinteracting with a bunch of stan accounts lately\u201d. She retweeted a post about how she was \u201cactually succeeding in getting people to talk about her again\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>But the star ended up\u00a0telling fans to \u201cgrow up\u201d after they accused her of throwing shade at Taylor Swift. Lizzo insisted that she\u2019d \u201cnever talked shit about any artist\u201d, and denied bad-mouthing\u00a0Olivia Rodrigo.<\/p>\n<p>In other news,\u00a0Lizzo appears to have addressed criticism failed to crack the top 100 charts in both the UK and the US.<\/p>\n<div class=\"td-a-ad id_inline_ad0 id_ad_content-horiz-center\"><span class=\"td-adspot-title\">Advertisement<\/span>  <\/p>\n<div id=\"div-gpt-ad-article-1\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>It marks a decline in popularity from Lizzo\u2019s previous album, \u2018Special\u2019, which peaked at Number Two on the US albums chart in 2022, and reached Number Six in the UK.<\/p>\n<p>Lizzo\u2019s 2019 major-label debut\u00a0\u2018Cuz I Love You\u2019 \u2013 her third album overall \u2013 also peaked at Number Four in the US, and Number 30 in the UK. Her hit track \u2018Truth Hurts\u2019 also reached Number One on the <em>Billboard<\/em> Hot 100.<\/p>\n<p>Now, she\u2019s responded to the commercial failure of the album after being asked to give a \u201cnon PR\u201d reaction during a new interview on the <em>Swiftologist\u00a0<\/em>podcast.\u00a0\u201cI was really stressed and really sad for a few days because this is some of my best stuff,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI had to come to terms with the fact that not only is the music industry different \u2013 we need to talk about the radio aspect \u2013 but also my relationship and my connection musically with the world is different. This follows the huge success of her previous LP and subsequent arena tour\u00a0(including\u00a0two sold-out shows at London\u2019s O2), as well as\u00a0a massive Pyramid Stage slot at Glastonbury 2023.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe industry changed so much in the last 3 yrs,\u201d she wrote. \u201cStreaming replaced radio &amp; I was a radio darling. That\u2019s how my fans discovered my music. Not to mention the very obvious &amp; public attack on my career changed things.<\/p>\n<div class=\"td-a-ad id_inline_ad2 id_ad_content-horiz-center\"><span class=\"td-adspot-title\">Advertisement<\/span>  <\/p>\n<div id=\"div-gpt-ad-article-2\" class=\"lazy-ad\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>Lizzo had previously hit out at the \u201cracist\u201d and \u201cfatphobic\u201d algorithms\u00a0for \u201cdestroying the music industry\u201d\u00a0and hampering her album promotion.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBack in the day, which was maybe even just five years ago, we used to get things chronologically,\u201d she wrote.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMusic marketing relies heavily on social media, but now, ever since the algorithm has been showing us things out of order, there\u2019s actually no way to successfully promote an album where everyone knows your album is coming.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s also been suggested by some that her failure to crack the charts stems from a series of controversies surrounding her in recent years.<\/p>\n<p>A lawsuit was filed against Lizzo in 2023 by Arianna Davis, Crystal Williams and Noelle Rodriguez, who made allegations of sexual harassment and a hostile work environment during their time working with the singer between 2021 and 2023.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p>Lizzo has denied all of the allegations.\u00a0She recently vowed to keep fighting the lawsuit brought by her three former backup dancers, claiming that \u201cthe truth is less salacious than the headlines\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>In October 2023,\u00a0Lizzo described the suit as a \u201cfabricated sob story\u201d and filed her own motion asking the court to dismiss it, alleging that the dancers had shown a \u201cpattern of gross misconduct\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Last month, Lizzo acknowledged her new social media promo strategy surrounding \u2018Bitch\u2019, saying she\u2019d been \u201cinteracting with a bunch of stan accounts lately\u201d. She retweeted a post about how she was \u201cactually succeeding in getting people to talk about her again\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>But the star ended up\u00a0telling fans to \u201cgrow up\u201d after they accused her of throwing shade at Taylor Swift.
