We haven’t actually been back there since we released the song, so maybe we did!”

“It’s one of my favourites and a departure from the world we’d created on the first album, which some reviews called ‘wishy-washy’. That got to us. I wish I could go back and give myself a slap and say: ‘Look at the people who actually like your music rather than listening to the critics’. ‘Mothers’ was partly us saying, ‘we can make an album that is reviewed well’, but mainly we wanted to experiment and were listening to krautrock and acid house.

“The first album was made on the dole on GarageBand and then taken to a studio when we got signed, whereas with the second one we had the time, money and freedom to do what we wanted.”

10

What is the B-side to Swim Deep’s 2015 single ‘To My Brother’?

“Is it ‘Si Si Me Voy’?”

WRONG.‘Hotel California’.

“Of course it is!
