\n\tThe Courtauld Gallery in London announced this week that it will put on view works from the Reuben Collection alongside works from its own holdings this fall.<\/p>\n
\n\tOpening September 18, the exhibition, titled \u201cModern Painting from the Courtauld and Reuben Collections,\u201d will feature works by Paul Cezanne, Juan Gris, Fernand L\u00e9ger, Amedeo Modigliani, Ren\u00e9 Magritte, Man Ray, and Pablo Picasso.<\/p>\n
\n\tCezanne\u2019s Turning Road<\/em>\u00a0(1905) and Modigliani\u2019s Nude\u00a0<\/em>(ca.1916), from the Courtauld\u2019s collection, will \u201cset the stage for works from the Reuben Collection by painters who built on such innovations to chart new artistic directions,\u201d according to a release.<\/p>\n
\n\tThe Reuben Collection will loan works such as Picasso\u2019s canvases Marie-Th\u00e9r\u00e8se Walter<\/em> (1937), Dora Maar<\/em> (1939), and\u00a0Still Life with Basket of Fruits and Flowers\u00a0<\/em>(1942); Magritte\u2019s The Dominion of Light<\/em> (1949) and The Intimate Friend<\/em> (1958); and Man Ray\u2019s monumental\u00a01915 painting Black Widow (Nativity)<\/em>, which was last exhibited in the UK 50 years ago.<\/p>\n
\n\tThe show is also the first major initiative between the Courtauld and the Reuben Foundation since the latter\u2019s gift of \u00a330 million ($40 million) to the Courtauld, marking the largest gift in its 93-year history. The partnership includes the display of work from the Reuben Collection, founded by brothers David and Simon Reuben, at the Courtlaud, as well as financial support for the redevelopment of the institution\u2019s campus at the Strand in central London.<\/p>\n
