The union has become so pronounced that, after today\u2019s SS27 men\u2019s show at <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dazeddigital.com\/mfw\"><span>Milan Fashion Week<\/span><\/a><span>, rather than address the press separately, they sent out quotes attributed to both of them together, as if they were from one hive mind. Within those quotes, they had some rather strong words for the rest of the industry, even going so far as to point out one particular design practice that they \u201chate\u201d. So, what\u2019s got them so riled up then? Read on to find out more\u2026<\/span><\/p>\n<h1><span>LET THERE BE LIGHT<\/span><\/h1>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"instagram-container embed-content\" data-embed-type=\"media-instagram\" data-script-depends=\"instagram-embeds\">\n<script async src=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/embed.js\"><\/script><\/div>\n<div class=\"embed-content\" data-embed-type=\"raw-html\">\n<p><span>The invites for this season\u2019s show arrived the day before the catwalk \u2013 long packages delivered to guests\u2019 homes and hotel rooms. Inside were short translucent rods with the Prada logo at one end, and when a little switch was flicked the rod transformed into an LED light stick. Were Raf and Mrs Prada about to take us to a rave? Or were the invites about bringing clarity to an industry bogged down by its own image?<\/span><\/p>\n<h1><span>THE PRADA BOYS WERE OUT IN FORCE<\/span><\/h1>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"instagram-container embed-content\" data-embed-type=\"media-instagram\" data-script-depends=\"instagram-embeds\">\n<script async src=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/embed.js\"><\/script><\/div>\n<div class=\"embed-content\" data-embed-type=\"raw-html\">\n<p><span>Perennial Prada boys Troye Sivan and Louis Partridge made their way to Milan for the show, as did <\/span><em><span>Club Kid<\/span><\/em><span> director Jordan Firstman, <\/span><em><span>Hamnet<\/span><\/em><span> actor Noah Jupe, and Ruaridh Mollica, star of the 2024 queer coming-of-age film <\/span><em><span>Sebastian<\/span><\/em><span>. Also making their way to the front row were Jay, Jake, Sunghoon, Sunoo, Jungwon, and Ni-Ki of K-pop group Enhypen, who caused an absolute meltdown outside as waiting fans lost their minds at the sight of them.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Elsewhere, it seems that the basketball fever ignited by the Knicks\u2019 championship win has extended farther afield, too. The Lakers\u2019 Jarred Vanderbilt arrived in a patterned camp collar shirt, while Anthony Edwards of the Timberwolves went for a simple white shirt and stonewash trouser combo.<\/span><\/p>\n<h1><span>IT\u2019S LIT<\/span><\/h1>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"instagram-container embed-content\" data-embed-type=\"media-instagram\" data-script-depends=\"instagram-embeds\">\n<script async src=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/embed.js\"><\/script><\/div>\n<div class=\"embed-content\" data-embed-type=\"raw-html\">\n<p><span>Prada is known for completely transforming its show space every season at its Fondazione Prada, and SS27 was a huge departure from the last. Those LED strip lights from the invites now reappeared in full size, as rows of fluorescent tubes lighting up the room beneath the transparent floor. Once the room was full, guests\u2019 seats were arranged in a maze-like formation of parallel and perpendicular lines, the room still and waiting for the first model to appear on the catwalk.<\/span><\/p>\n<h1><span>SKINNY SILHOUETTES DOMINATED THE COLLECTION<\/span><\/h1>\n<\/div>\n<figure class=\"inline-img expandable dev-view-hide\" data-img=\"bfd05846-a1e0-4b68-8eda-b4700111b517\" data-src=\"https:\/\/images-prod.dazeddigital.com\/2000\/azure\/dazed-prod\/1440\/7\/1447655.jpg\" data-img-aspect-ratio-type=\"portrait\" data-img-aspect-ratio=\"0.67\"><span class=\"has-css-custom-props image-container\" data-aspect-ratio-type=\"portrait\"><span class=\"preserve-aspect-ratio\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Prada SS27 men\u2019s\" class=\"img\" height=\"3000\" src=\"https:\/\/images-prod.dazeddigital.com\/786\/azure\/dazed-prod\/1440\/7\/1447655.jpg\" width=\"2000\"><\/span><\/span><figcaption class=\"img-caption\"><span class=\"caption\">Prada SS27 men\u2019s<\/span><span class=\"credit\">Photography Daniele Venturelli\/WireImage via <span class=\"nowrap\">Getty Images<\/span><\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<div class=\"embed-content\" data-embed-type=\"raw-html\">\n<p><span>Though this was a men\u2019s collection, the catwalk began with a pigtailed Julia Nobis in slimline white denim and an oversized blazer, followed by her doppelganger male model, also in pigtails and head-to-toe black leather. What followed was an exercise in classic Prada design, but imbued with the kind of modern vigour we expect from a Raf Simons offering. Close-cut silhouettes skimmed the body while revealing sexy flashes of hip, and wardrobe staples like sweater vests and leather jackets were subtly reproportioned to subversive effect.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>There was an air of slick efficiency and wastelessness that emanated from the collection \u2013 barely any bells and whistles, and just enough fabric to constitute the garments themselves. The most aesthetically daring moments came from the see-through shirts and trousers, whose skeleton-like seams were joined together by translucent fabric, and also the clashing 70s-inspired prints, that were worn together on tight trousers and brash knits.<\/span><\/p>\n<h1><span>PRADA WANTS YOU TO K.I.S.S.<\/span><\/h1>\n<\/div>\n<figure class=\"inline-img expandable dev-view-hide\" data-img=\"799c4ff3-5d3e-4406-856f-b47001132440\" data-src=\"https:\/\/images-prod.dazeddigital.com\/2000\/azure\/dazed-prod\/1440\/7\/1447656.jpg\" data-img-aspect-ratio-type=\"landscape\" data-img-aspect-ratio=\"1.5\"><span class=\"has-css-custom-props image-container\" data-aspect-ratio-type=\"landscape\"><span class=\"preserve-aspect-ratio\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Prada SS27 men\u2019s\" class=\"img\" height=\"2000\" src=\"https:\/\/images-prod.dazeddigital.com\/786\/azure\/dazed-prod\/1440\/7\/1447656.jpg\" width=\"3000\"><\/span><\/span><figcaption class=\"img-caption\"><span class=\"caption\">Prada SS27 men\u2019s<\/span><span class=\"credit\">Photography Daniele Venturelli\/WireImage via <span class=\"nowrap\">Getty Images<\/span><\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<div class=\"embed-content\" data-embed-type=\"raw-html\">\n<p><span>After the show, Mrs Prada and Raf revealed that the collection, called <\/span><em><span>Clarity<\/span><\/em><span>, was centred on the concept of \u201cfundamental\u201d fashion, which acts as an \u201cantidote to complication\u201d that is seen in modern design. \u201cThe ambition was to do something new with \u2018nothing\u2019 \u2013 against exaggeration, against complex material,\u201d the pair told the press after the show. \u201cAgainst useless design. There is nothing that I hate more in this period than useless design \u2013 this collection expresses this concept.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>The approach is reminiscent of the KISS acronym, a design principle associated with the aircraft engineer Kelly Johnson, simply meaning: Keep It Simple, Stupid. If most systems work best in their least complex forms, why complicate them with extraneous add-ons? The union has become so pronounced that, after today\u2019s SS27 men\u2019s show at <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dazeddigital.com\/mfw\"><span>Milan Fashion Week<\/span><\/a><span>, rather than address the press separately, they sent out quotes attributed to both of them together, as if they were from one hive mind. Within those quotes, they had some rather strong words for the rest of the industry, even going so far as to point out one particular design practice that they \u201chate\u201d. So, what\u2019s got them so riled up then? Read on to find out more\u2026<\/span><\/p>\n<h1><span>LET THERE BE LIGHT<\/span><\/h1>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"instagram-container embed-content\" data-embed-type=\"media-instagram\" data-script-depends=\"instagram-embeds\">\n<script async src=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/embed.js\"><\/script><\/div>\n<div class=\"embed-content\" data-embed-type=\"raw-html\">\n<p><span>The invites for this season\u2019s show arrived the day before the catwalk \u2013 long packages delivered to guests\u2019 homes and hotel rooms. Inside were short translucent rods with the Prada logo at one end, and when a little switch was flicked the rod transformed into an LED light stick. Were Raf and Mrs Prada about to take us to a rave? Or were the invites about bringing clarity to an industry bogged down by its own image?<\/span><\/p>\n<h1><span>THE PRADA BOYS WERE OUT IN FORCE<\/span><\/h1>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"instagram-container embed-content\" data-embed-type=\"media-instagram\" data-script-depends=\"instagram-embeds\">\n<script async src=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/embed.js\"><\/script><\/div>\n<div class=\"embed-content\" data-embed-type=\"raw-html\">\n<p><span>Perennial Prada boys Troye Sivan and Louis Partridge made their way to Milan for the show, as did <\/span><em><span>Club Kid<\/span><\/em><span> director Jordan Firstman, <\/span><em><span>Hamnet<\/span><\/em><span> actor Noah Jupe, and Ruaridh Mollica, star of the 2024 queer coming-of-age film <\/span><em><span>Sebastian<\/span><\/em><span>. Also making their way to the front row were Jay, Jake, Sunghoon, Sunoo, Jungwon, and Ni-Ki of K-pop group Enhypen, who caused an absolute meltdown outside as waiting fans lost their minds at the sight of them.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Elsewhere, it seems that the basketball fever ignited by the Knicks\u2019 championship win has extended farther afield, too. The Lakers\u2019 Jarred Vanderbilt arrived in a patterned camp collar shirt, while Anthony Edwards of the Timberwolves went for a simple white shirt and stonewash trouser combo.<\/span><\/p>\n<h1><span>IT\u2019S LIT<\/span><\/h1>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"instagram-container embed-content\" data-embed-type=\"media-instagram\" data-script-depends=\"instagram-embeds\">\n<script async src=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/embed.js\"><\/script><\/div>\n<div class=\"embed-content\" data-embed-type=\"raw-html\">\n<p><span>Prada is known for completely transforming its show space every season at its Fondazione Prada, and SS27 was a huge departure from the last. Those LED strip lights from the invites now reappeared in full size, as rows of fluorescent tubes lighting up the room beneath the transparent floor. What followed was an exercise in classic Prada design, but imbued with the kind of modern vigour we expect from a Raf Simons offering. Close-cut silhouettes skimmed the body while revealing sexy flashes of hip, and wardrobe staples like sweater vests and leather jackets were subtly reproportioned to subversive effect.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>There was an air of slick efficiency and wastelessness that emanated from the collection \u2013 barely any bells and whistles, and just enough fabric to constitute the garments themselves. There is nothing that I hate more in this period than useless design \u2013 this collection expresses this concept.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>The approach is reminiscent of the KISS acronym, a design principle associated with the aircraft engineer Kelly Johnson, simply meaning: Keep It Simple, Stupid. If most systems work best in their least complex forms, why complicate them with extraneous add-ons?
