However, this proclamation doesn&#8217;t feature in 2026&#8217;s version, and its omission is our first public confirmation (or admission) from Sony that PlayStation&#8217;s big &#8216;tentpole&#8217; games will no longer be released on PC as well as console.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"injection_placeholder\" data-position=\"1\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p>We had suspected this for a little while now, and in May, Bloomberg&#8217;s Jason Schrier reported that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.eurogamer.net\/playstation-ps5-pc-single-player-games\">PlayStation exec Hermen Hulst had internally confirmed the company&#8217;s narrative single-player games will now be exclusive to its consoles<\/a>. Before that, though, Bloomberg had reported <a href=\"https:\/\/www.eurogamer.net\/playstation-is-reportedly-ditching-its-pc-release-strategy-and-most-first-party-games-will-now-be-console-exclusive\">Sony was considering no longer bringing its single-player games to PC<\/a>, citing poor sales for PC versions of PS5 games, as well as Sony believing that spreading onto PC &#8220;risks damaging the console&#8217;s brand and will hurt sales of the PlayStation 5 and its successors&#8221;. This means to play any of PlayStation&#8217;s upcoming first-party games such as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.eurogamer.net\/intergalactic-the-heretic-prophet-naughty-dog-different-side\">Naughty Dog&#8217;s Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet<\/a> or <a href=\"https:\/\/www.eurogamer.net\/god-of-war-new-series-entry-kratos-faye-playstation\">God of War Laufey from Sony Santa Monica<\/a>, you will need a PS5.<\/p>\n<p>Last year, former PlayStation exec Shuhei Yoshida <a href=\"https:\/\/www.eurogamer.net\/playstation-games-on-pc-is-almost-like-printing-money-says-former-exec-shuhei-yoshida\">shared his thoughts on bringing PlayStation-exclusive games to PC<\/a>, saying the strategy was &#8220;almost like printing money&#8221;, and had many advantages. However, some of PlayStation&#8217;s PC debuts haven&#8217;t exactly set the platform alight, with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.eurogamer.net\/uncharted-legacy-of-thieves-collection-sonys-weakest-pc-launch\">2022&#8217;s Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves collection only reaching a concurrent player peak of 10,851 on Steam<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>This change from Sony comes as Valve is getting ready to launch its Steam Machine, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.eurogamer.net\/steam-machine-frame-summer-2026-verified\">which is on course for release &#8220;this summer&#8221;<\/a>.
