Homewood Mountain Resort<\/a>, California, will move forward with a new look.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

On June 13, 2026, Homewood Mountain revealed its new logo<\/a>.\u00a0<\/strong>What used to be two sweeping peaks is now two bears perched atop a single ski, designed to be a symbol of place, tradition, and belonging.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt represents a mountain steeped in tradition and a lake deeper than time itself. It reflects the spirit of Tahoe\u2019s West Shore\u2014slower, quieter, more intentional. A place where families disconnect from the noise of everyday life and reconnect with one another,\u201d the resort wrote in the announcement.<\/strong> \u201cThis new identity is not about changing who we are. It is about expressing more clearly who we have always been.\u201d<\/p>\n

Homewood\u2019s new logo comes amid a period of uncertainty for the resort. <\/strong>In 2022<\/a>, Homewood owners JMA Ventures and Discovery Land Company announced plans<\/a> for the resort to become semi-private, claiming that it would help generate funds the Lake Tahoe-area resort needed for the improvements laid out in its 2011 Master Plan<\/a>. The privatization plans led to the Keep Homewood Public<\/a> movement starting in 2023, protesting the plans and generating backlash against the resort. A year later, the resort announced it would close for the 2024-25 season, citing the withdrawal of support from its financial partner as the primary reason for the closure. Delays in securing approvals for updates to Homewood\u2019s 2011 Master Plan, which included plans for a new gondola and other infrastructure improvements, influenced this decision. Keep Homewood Public argued that the closure was not<\/em> tied to the 2011 plan, as the owners could operate the ski area regardless. Many believed this was the end for Homewood.<\/p>\n
