medals.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>The Eileen Gu Stanford Dream, Years in the Making<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><strong>Gu got into Stanford on early admission back in December 2020, but she held off enrolling to chase Olympic glory first, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.profootballnetwork.com\/olympics\/eileen-gu-2026-olympics-medals-education-stanford\/\">the <em>Pro Football Network<\/em> reported<\/a>.<\/strong> She joined the freshman class in <a href=\"https:\/\/snowbrains.com\/eileen-gu-was-the-3rd-highest-paid-female-athlete-in-2022\/\">fall 2022<\/a>, after winning three medals at the Beijing Gu tried quantum physics before landing on an international relations major, <a 2023 interview with Olympics.com, she put the early physics interest down to being \u201ca huge nerd\u201d off the slopes, adding that she liked work that \u201cmakes you question the nature of reality.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>Gu also spent 2024 at Oxford, England, through Stanford\u2019s Bing Overseas Studies Program, the <em>Pro Football Network<\/em> reported.<\/strong> She joined the Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority and took leave from school to train for the 2026 Games, <a decision.\u201d<\/strong> She has said she made the call to grow the sport in her mother\u2019s homeland and give young Chinese skiers more representation.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The decision drew plenty of criticism, and Gu has spoken about it more than once.<\/strong> \u201cI\u2019m American when I\u2019m in the U.S., and I\u2019m Chinese when I\u2019m in China,\u201d she told reporters in Beijing.
