The New York Knicks\u2019 first NBA title in 53 years drew a huge crowd outside Madison Square Garden and on the surrounding blocks, which ultimately led to dozens of arrests.<\/p>\n

Tens of thousands of fans gathered on the streets near MSG, the NYPD said. Police made 63 arrests related to Knicks celebrations, while 10 officers were injured.<\/p>\n

A 17-year-old was shot several blocks north of MSG and had to be taken to a nearby hospital by the police, the NYPD said, because an ambulance could not get through the crowd of celebrators. Police recovered a gun on the scene and took three people they say are of interest into custody. Four others were slashed or stabbed.<\/p>\n

Those were the most significant injuries from a raucous night across New York. The NYPD said that one officer was punched in the face and another was hit by a glass bottle. Five cop cars were damaged, with fans smashing their windshields with bats or jumping stop them.<\/p>\n

Five school buses that were used to transport fans to the World Cup in New Jersey were set on fire or damaged by rowdy fans.<\/p>\n
