In a new sit-down with Bloomberg\u2019s Emily Chang, he reveals he has just one direct report; that\u2019s his chief of staff. Everyone else on Anthropic\u2019s executive team reports to his sister, co-founder and President Daniela Amodei, who handles day-to-day operations. <\/p>\n
Anyone who has managed a large team knows that the people side of the job has a way of consuming everything else. Amodei\u2019s arrangement frees him to focus almost entirely on strategy, culture, research direction, and sweeping essays on the future of civilization (with footnotes). \u201cIt\u2019s incredibly freeing,\u201d he tells Chang.<\/p>\n
It\u2019s a highly unusual structure. OpenAI\u2019s Sam Altman reportedly has around half a dozen direct reports, which is far more standard, while Nvidia\u2019s Jensen Huang \u2014 another extreme outlier \u2014 has many dozens. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n
