New York Knicks owner James Dolan spent a Wednesday afternoon radio appearance defending his team on multiple fronts, suggesting officials missed a flagrant foul by Victor Wembanyama in Game 3 while also blasting New York City officials over security measures around Madison Square Garden ahead of Game 4.<\/span><\/p>\n

Appearing on WFAN, Dolan stopped short of directly criticizing the officiating but made his feelings clear when asked about a controversial sequence involving the Spurs superstar and Knicks guard Jalen Brunson.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m a governor of the NBA, and I\u2019m restricted and bound by the rules of the NBA, of which there are a lot,\u201d Dolan said. \u201cSo there\u2019s little that I can say. I will say if you read the cover of the New York Post today, I think they got it right, which hopefully won\u2019t get me in trouble.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

The New York Post\u2019s Wednesday cover featured a photo of Wembanyama making contact with Brunson under the headline \u201cWanted for crimes against the Knicks,\u201d arguing that the play warranted a flagrant foul.<\/span><\/p>\n

Dolan also used the interview to escalate an ongoing dispute with New York City mayor Zohran Mamdani\u2019s administration over crowd-control plans around Madison Square Garden. Earlier Wednesday, MSG Sports accused city officials of trying to prevent fans from gathering outside the arena during the Knicks\u2019 playoff run.<\/span><\/p>\n

Dolan echoed that sentiment on the air, urging fans to arrive early because of increased security while questioning the reasoning behind it.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThis is all really designed around stopping people from celebrating around Madison Square Garden,\u201d Dolan said. \u201cThat\u2019s what this is about.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Dolan said his frustration was directed not at police officers but at City Hall.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cWe love the NYPD,\u201d Dolan said. \u201cWe know the captains, we know the chiefs. They can handle this. They don\u2019t need this. \u2026 It\u2019s really the mayor\u2019s office. I cannot explain their decisions on this, but it makes absolutely no sense at all.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cI think that\u2019s part of what we\u2019re seeing \u2014 a lot of fear from the mayor\u2019s office, a lot of anxiety,\u201d Dolan said. \u201cThey\u2019re sitting there trying to say, \u2018Well, we\u2019re big Knicks fans.\u2019 But they\u2019re not Knicks fans.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Through it all, Dolan insisted the Knicks\u2019 fate rests with themselves and predicted they will emerge victorious.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cIn the end, it\u2019s not who we play, and it\u2019s not the officiating,\u201d Dolan said. \u201cIt\u2019s how we play. If the team that comes out on the floor tonight is the Knicks team that we know and love, there\u2019s nothing that can stop them. Not missed calls. Not 7-foot-4 aliens.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n
