One may guess that they are mostly in the Alps, and it\u2019s true, but there are a couple of others outside of the Alps in North America that must be included. If you\u2019re a true ski freak, checking out some of these enormous ski resorts would be extremely rewarding.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Related: <em><a href=\"https:\/\/snowbrains.com\/we-went-to-the-biggest-ski-area-on-earth-and-got-our-whole-perspective-changed\/\" rel=\"bookmark\">We Went to The Biggest Ski Area on Earth and Got Our Whole Perspective Changed<\/a><\/em><\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: left\"><strong>How We Measured and Ranked the World\u2019s Largest Ski Resorts<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><strong>In 2019-2020, German ski resort professional <a href=\"https:\/\/www.montenius.de\/index_en.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Christophe Schrahe<\/a>, who owns <a href=\"https:\/\/www.montenius.de\/\">Montenius<\/a>, a ski resort and lift operations consulting company, measured the largest ski resorts using digital techniques to create a list of the world\u2019s largest ski resorts based on the kilometers of runs they have.<\/strong> He advanced on his measurements with a ranking by skimiles, which also took other parameters into account. As it is hard to compare on a single metric, we have compiled a list of the top 13 ski resorts by size, based on a combination of skiable acres and kilometers of ski runs. It is important to note that acreage in Europe is often estimated, as European resorts don\u2019t typically use this metric. The kilometers are self-reported by resorts, but the ranking has been adjusted to reflect Schrahe\u2019s finding about some resorts exaggerating their kilometers.<\/p>\n<blockquote href=\"https:\/\/snowbrains.com\/inside-the-culture-scale-and-operations-of-north-americas-biggest-resort-with-whistler-blackcomb-coo-belinda-trembath\/\">Whistler Blackcomb<\/a>, British Columbia \u2013 254 kilometers (158 miles) \/ 8,171 acres<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p><strong>North America\u2019s largest ski resort by acreage, Whistler Blackcomb spans two mountains joined by the record-setting Peak 2 Peak Gondola.<\/strong> It ranks last here by run length, but would dwarf most Alpine resorts on skiable acres alone\u2014proof of why these two metrics tell different stories.<\/p>\n<h4 style=\"text-align: center\"><strong>#12 Skicircus Saalbach, Austria \u2013 270 km (168 miles) \/ 10,000 acres<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p><strong>The 2015 lift link to Fieberbrunn made Saalbach Austria\u2019s biggest ski circus, a sun-facing loop you can ski in either direction<\/strong>. It\u2019s as famous for its apr\u00e8s-ski as its pistes\u2014this is the home of \u201cRave on Snow.\u201d<\/p>\n<h4 style=\"text-align: center\"><strong>#11 Park City, Utah \u2013 275 km (171 miles) \/ 7,300 acres<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p><strong>The largest ski resort in the United States, Park City was created when Vail Resorts connected Park City Mountain and Canyons via gondola in 2015.<\/strong>
