Here\u2019s what it had to say for this upcoming summer in North America.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Related: <em><a href=\"https:\/\/snowbrains.com\/el-nino-2026-27-ski-forecast\/\" rel=\"bookmark\">Strong El Ni\u00f1o Predicted for Winter 2026-27 \u2014 This Is What Skiers Need to Know<\/a><\/em><\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><strong>The Old Farmer\u2019s Almanac 2026 Summer Forecast<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><strong>If you like hot weather, this summer will likely be a good one. <\/strong>In most parts of North America, this summer will bring hotter-than-normal temperatures with rainfall varying by region. Areas closer to water bodies, like oceans or lakes, will receive more rainfall, whereas more arid regions will run dry.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Related: <em><a href=\"https:\/\/snowbrains.com\/follow-the-snow-a-global-guide-to-skiing-in-june\/\">Follow the Snow: A Global Guide to Skiing in June<\/a><\/em><\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>This summer will likely also see the beginning of a strong El Ni\u00f1o pattern.\u00a0<\/strong>According to the <em><a href=\"https:\/\/wmo.int\/news\/media-centre\/wmo-prepare-el-nino\">World Meteorological Organization<\/a><\/em>, there is an \u201c80% likelihood of an El Ni\u00f1o event during June\u2013August 2026,\u201d which could bring more extreme weather and above-average temperatures \u201cnearly everywhere\u201d this summer. While El Ni\u00f1o\u2019s largest impacts come during the winter months, it could certainly have an impact on North America\u2019s summer.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>United States Summer Forecast<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><strong>In the United States, temperatures will be hotter than normal, especially across the South and the East Coast.\u00a0<\/strong>There are some cooler areas sprinkled in, including the upper Midwest and Heartland, as well as some states in the Pacific Northwest like Idaho, Oregon, and Washington.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Rainfall predictions also vary by region, with some going wet and some going dry.\u00a0<\/strong>States along the East Coast\u2019s Appalachian Mountains are expected to have a drier summer, as is California, and parts of Arizona, Washington, and Florida. The High Plains are also expected to have a dry summer.\u00a0Conversely, regions like the Heartland, the Gulf Coast, the lower Great Lakes, and the Four Corners region are expected to have higher-than-normal precipitation.<\/p>\n<p><strong>In general, the United States is expected to see a potpourri of conditions, but overall trends of a hotter-than-normal summer with small regional contrasts.\u00a0<\/strong>Temperatures are expected to peak during the mid-summer months of July and August.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Canada Summer Forecast<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><strong>Like the United States, temperatures are expected to trend hotter-than-normal in Canada, too.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Temperatures are expected to be higher in both the northern and southern parts of Canada.\u00a0<\/strong>Southern Quebec, the Prairies, and southern British Columbia are all expected to receive heat. Canada\u2019s northern parts, like the Northwest Territories, the Yukon, and Nunavut, are also expected to see high temperatures.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Related: <em><a href=\"https:\/\/snowbrains.com\/banff-sunshine-summer-skiing-2026\/\">Banff Sunshine, AB, to Reopen for Summer Skiing After Record Snowfall<\/a><\/em><\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Only the southern parts of Ontario and the far eastern parts, like New Brunswick and Prince Edward Island, will see milder temperatures.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Precipitation will fluctuate by region as well.\u00a0<\/strong>Much of southern Canada is expected to be rainy, while northern parts will be drier.
