The project will cost the resort $4 million, making it Little Switzerland’s largest investment to date. The lifts will be ready to spin at the beginning of the 2026-27 season.

The new chairlifts will mark “a major milestone in the hill’s history and setting the stage for a dramatically improved guest experience,” the resort wrote in its press release.

Related: Top 9 Biggest Ski Resorts in the Midwest

With the new quad lifts, Little Switzerland hopes it can shrink lift lines for its guests. The previous One and Two chairs were two-seaters built with an “up and over” design, believed to be the first in the United States when it was built in 1964. While this design allowed for the lifts to utilize two directions on both sides of the hill, stoppages brought halts to two key lifts, growing their lines. The new quads will be built as two separate lifts, solving the issue of a two-lift stoppage. As a smaller resort with only nine ski lifts, minimizing wait times is key to creating positive guest experiences.

Related: Purgatory Resort, CO, Attempts New Colorado Couloir Lift Approval

The lifts will have red terminals at the top and bottom of the hill, matching Little Switzerland’s brand colors. Little Switzerland began work on the lifts immediately after its 2025-26 season ended.
