SAN ANTONIO \u2014 The NBA is investigating a fan interaction with Jalen Brunson during Game 1 of the 2026 NBA Finals that led to the New York Knicks guard complaining to lead game official Scott Foster about the fan\u2019s behavior.<\/p>\n

An NBA spokesman said the league was looking into whether a fan inappropriately taunted Brunson about \u201cflopping.\u201d The spokesman said the alleged taunts may not have been verbal but rather a gesture. The ABC broadcast of Game 1 showed Brunson in a heated exchange with a fan near the court with about 20 seconds left, and Brunson appeared to re-engage with him<\/a> after the game was over.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe fan was not a season ticket holder, and if he were to attend another game in this series, he would not be permitted to sit in courtside seats,\u201d a league spokesperson told\u00a0The Athletic <\/em>on Friday.<\/p>\n

On Thursday, the league announced it had banned two fans for life<\/a> after they co-conspired for one of them to walk onto the court and take a selfie with Victor Wembanyama.<\/p>\n

The Knicks won, 105-95, and Brunson finished with 30 points.<\/p>\n

NBA commissioner Adam Silver on Thursday confirmed the league\u2019s investigation into the incident between a fan and Brunson, saying that the behavior inside Frost Bank Center for Game 1 is \u201cnothing new in the league,\u201d and said all NBA arenas have heightened surveillance capabilities that allow league security to get to the bottom of fan-related incidents almost instantly.<\/p>\n

Asked on Thursday about the interaction, Brunson said, \u201cI\u2019m not touching that.\u201d<\/p>\n

Brunson did, however, have something to say when asked a question that alluded to the exorbitant ticket prices on the secondary market for finals games in New York<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Asked by a reporter what he would spend $7,500 to see \u2014 that\u2019s the quoted price of a ticket to Game 3 Monday in Madison Square Garden \u2014 Brunson said: \u201cA live Michael Jackson performance. That\u2019s a good (question).\u201d<\/p>\n
