(Photo: Getty Images)<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Niermann will be the core of Lidl-Trek\u2019s vision when he officially starts as chief sporting officer in August.<\/p>\n<p>The German staffer was part of all of Visma-Lease a Bike\u2019s grand tour victories and led Wout van Aert to the win this spring at Paris-Roubaix.<\/p>\n<p>The news this week that Niermann had quit Visma-Lease a Bike shocked the cycling world.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking Tuesday in a press conference, Visma\u2019s CEO Richard Plugge said he was \u201cdisappointed and surprised\u201d by his sidekick\u2019s unexpected decision to exit.<\/p>\n<div class=\"ad-placeholder-wrapper relative w-full border-t border-b border-border-light col-span-full my-3 md:col-span-10 md:col-start-2\">\n<div class=\"mb-[30px] min-h-[30px] text-center\"><span class=\"font-utility-4 font-medium tracking-[1px] text-neutral-500 uppercase\">ADVERTISEMENT<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>Niermann said in a note from Lidl-Trek that his time at Visma had come. He had also raced with the Rabobank team before the squad changed identity.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAfter having spent my whole life at the organization today known as team Visma-Lease a Bike, I felt the time was right for a new challenge,\u201d Niermann said Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cJoining Lidl-Trek represents a special opportunity for me personally, as it allows me to shape one of the most ambitious projects in professional cycling,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Lorang is another well-known name in staffing circles. He revolutionized triathlon training and became a key figure at Bora-Hansgrohe.<\/p>\n<p>Lorang also contributed expertise to the Red Bull Performance Center when the energy drink brand took over the team.<\/p>\n<p>It was confirmed Tuesday that Lorang will work as head of performance at Lidl-Trek while also leading projects at the new multi-sports \u201cCrivit Performance Center.\u201d The facility will be available for the cycling team and the companies of Schwarz Group.<\/p>\n<p>The last names in Lidl-Trek\u2019s backroom overhaul are Martijn Redegeld and York-Peter Kl\u00f6ppel.<\/p>\n<div class=\"ad-placeholder-wrapper relative w-full border-t border-b border-border-light col-span-full my-3 md:col-span-10 md:col-start-2\">\n<div class=\"mb-[30px] min-h-[30px] text-center\"><span class=\"font-utility-4 font-medium tracking-[1px] text-neutral-500 uppercase\">ADVERTISEMENT<\/span><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>Redegeld worked in nutrition at Visma-Lease a Bike before spending time at soccer club Ajax.
