Titled \u201cThere, Now, Here,\u201d the kinetic artwork is by the Brooklyn-based duo <a href=\"https:\/\/wadeandleta.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Wade and Leta<\/a> and is in almost constant motion, thanks to wind, motors, and willing participants hopping on a see-saw.<\/p>\n<p>With black and white stripes alongside a more muted palette, the colors of the playground-style project reference Dorothea Mackellar\u2019s beloved poem \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.sl.nsw.gov.au\/stories\/dorothea-mackellars-my-country\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">My Country<\/a>,\u201d which professes her devotion to the Australian landscape and what she dubs the \u201csunburnt country.\u201d Harnessing the washed-out tones of a sun-bleached environment, the artists present their signature bold works in more subtle hues, as if the pieces have been baking under the light for years.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thisiscolossal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/wade-3.jpg\" class=\"swipebox\" data-rel=\"lightbox-gallery-474536\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"2000\" height=\"1333\" src=\"https:\/\/www.thisiscolossal.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/wade-3.jpg\" alt=\"a photo of a colorful outdoor sculpture with twirling shapes by Wade and Leta\" class=\"wp-image-474588\"><\/a><\/figure>\n<p>A sonic component created by Josh Burgess accompanies the sculpture and can be manipulated by the public through accessible controls. \u201cIf one were to listen closely, they can hear the rush of water on the rocks, the dings of the light rail, the crosswalk signal, and most importantly, the local wildlife,\u201d the artists say. \u201cOur favorite piece is a nod to the \u2018bush doof\u2019 using the sounds of a lyrebird as the structure.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere, Now, Here\u201d is the pair\u2019s first public work in Australia and part of the annual light and music festival <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vividsydney.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Vivid Sydney<\/a>.
