\n\tPETA has publicly called out Lizzo for her new partnership with Chili\u2019s, which finds the star promoting the restaurant chain\u2019s baby back ribs despite previously being vegan. <\/p>\n
\n\tSharing a video that stitches together Lizzo\u2019s new commercial for Chili\u2019s with graphic footage of pigs suffering from abuse and mistreatment by handlers in the meat industry, PETA wrote Wednesday on Instagram, \u201cPIGS WANT THEIR RIBS BACK.\u201d<\/p>\n

Billboard <\/em>has reached out to Lizzo\u2019s rep for comment. <\/p>\n \n\tThe severe message comes shortly after the singer\u2019s Chili\u2019s campaign launched, featuring Lizzo performing an updated version of the \u201cBaby Back Ribs\u201d jingle alongside a giant rib prop while playing a rib flute. In an interview with Billboard <\/em>about the partnership, the Grammy winner \u2014 who was vegan for a few years before announcing in 2024 that she\u2019d begun eating meat again \u2014 said, \u201cI think that I\u2019m very sensitive about the way I deliver personal news to the world.\u201d<\/p>\n \n\t\u201cWhen I announced that I was no longer vegan, and that I was consuming animal protein, I was so nervous that I would hurt people\u2019s feelings or let people down,\u201d she continued at the time. \u201cBut it was important for me to say that back then, because of things like this now, where, you know, it would have been super jarring for me to be a vegan in 2021, and then 2026, I\u2019m eating a big old rib and playing a rib flute. So what I said back then to make sure that I cleared the air, and that any decisions I make now, you know where I\u2019m coming from.\u201d<\/p>\n \n\tNoting that she\u2019d be a food influencer if she weren\u2019t a musician, Lizzo also explained that the Chili\u2019s team-up shows off her \u201cfun, love-to-eat foodie side\u201d rather than her \u201chealth advocacy side.\u201d<\/p>\n \n\tThe Grammy winner is currently gearing up to release her new album, Bitch<\/em>, on June 5. And despite the backlash from PETA, Lizzo is having fun with her baby back ribs era, posting a TikTok of herself showing off a plate of the Chili\u2019s dish on Thursday (May 28).<\/p>\n \n\tSee the video below.<\/p>\n
