\n\tMilli Vanilli are among the artists to drop out of the Donald Trump-affiliated Great American State Fair shows slated for Washington, D.C., in honor of America\u2019s 250th birthday. The \u201cGirl You Know It\u2019s True\u201d act announced Thursday (May 28) that they won\u2019t be performing in any capacity at the Freedom 250 concert.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe duo \u2014 which was slated to perform June 26, according to a release from Freedom 250 \u2014 claimed that any Milli Vanilli being used in advertisements should be considered to be a tribute band and they have no association with the event.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cThe original\/real vocalists of Milli Vanilli, Jodie Rocco, Linda Rocco, Brad Howell, John Davis, and Charles Shaw will NOT be performing their hits live at The Great American State Fair,\u201d Milli Vanilli wrote. \u201cOthers using the name \u2018Milli Vanilli\u2019 that appear on the advertisement should be considered a tribute band with no association vocally or musically to our sound or songs.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tPer Freedom 250\u2019s announcement, Milli Vanilli was slated to hit the stage on June 26 alongside Vanilla Ice and Young MC. However, the \u201cBust a Move\u201d rapper also announced that he\u2019s dropping out of the festival. \u201cI have informed my agents that I will not be performing,\u201d Young MC said in a statement on social media. <\/p>\n

\n\tThe Time frontman Morris Day also distanced himself from the festival while announcing that he won\u2019t be performing at the Great American State Fair.<\/p>\n

\n\tFreedom 250 is a 16-day festival in D.C. running from June 25 through July 10 at the National Mall. Other performers on the bill include Flo Rida, Bret Michaels, The Commodores and Martina McBride.<\/p>\n

\n\tOriginally comprised of Fab Morvan\u00a0and\u00a0Rob Pilatus, Milli Vanilli rose to prominence in the late 1980s.<\/p>\n

\n\tProducer and Milli Vanilli founder Frank Farian recruited Brad Howell,\u00a0John Davis,\u00a0Charles Shaw, Jodie Rocco and Linda Rocco to provide vocals on Milli Vanilli tracks. \u201cMy sister and I were shocked to see our name, \u2018Milli Vanilli,\u2019 as one of the performers,\u201d Jodie Rocco told The Associated Press. <\/em>Pilatus died of an accidental drug and alcohol overdose in 1998.<\/p>\n

\n\tMilli Vanilli is best known for Billboard Hot 100 top five hits like \u201cBlame It on the Rain\u201d (No. 1), \u201cGirl I\u2019m Gonna Miss You\u201d (No. 1), \u201cBaby Don\u2019t Forget My Number\u201d (No. 1), \u201cGirl You Know It\u2019s True\u201d (No. 2) and \u201cAll or Nothing\u201d (No. 4). <\/p>\n
