These missions will pave the way for the crewed Artemis landing slated for 2028, starting with three <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nasa.gov\/moonbase\/\">Moon Base missions<\/a> NASA says are \u201cthe first of more than a dozen missions that will be announced this year.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"duet--article--block-placement _1o279nj1 _1o279nj0 duet--article--article-body-component\">\n<ul class=\"duet--article--unordered-list _1ymtmqpi _11h7yix0 _1xwtict1\">\n<li class=\"_11h7yix1\"><span class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup\">Moon Base I, launching \u201cno earlier than fall 2026,\u201d will use Blue Origin\u2019s Blue Moon Mark 1 Endurance lander to bring NASA payloads to the Moon, including the Stereo Camera for Lunar Plume-Surface Studies instrument and the Laser Retroreflective Array. NASA will use these \u201cto study how thrusters interact with the Moon\u2019s surface\u201d and help \u201corbiting spacecraft determine a more precise location using reflected laser light.\u201d<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"_11h7yix1\"><span class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup\">Moon Base II, launching \u201clater this year,\u201d will \u201cdeliver more than 1,100 pounds of cargo on Astrobotic\u2019s Griffin lander, including Astrolab\u2019s FLIP rover,\u201d helping to \u201cinform future lunar terrain vehicle, or LTV, operations.\u201d LTVs include the new rovers astronauts will use on the Moon (more on those below). <\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"_11h7yix1\"><span class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup\">Moon Base III, \u201calso targeted for this year,\u201d will take <a href=\"https:\/\/science.nasa.gov\/lunar-science\/clps-deliveries\/cp-11\/\">a few payloads<\/a> to the Moon for NASA, as well as the ESA and the Korea Astronomy and Space Science Institute. After landing on the Moon, the drones will \u201cgather high-resolution imagery of hard-to-reach terrain over the course of a single lunar day\u201d and operate a \u201csurvive-the-night payload\u201d
