bike this weekend, with Scott creating a prototype gravel bike to be ridden by Cameron Jones, but never to be released.<\/p>\n<p>Bigger-wheeled 32&#8243; gravel bikes have been a tech theme of this year, and this moment signals a milestone as a major manufacturer experiments with the technology in the biggest gravel event in the world.<\/p>\n<p id=\"elk-67e35126-8967-4d69-8573-1eeedd97eae7-2\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"kiosq-b\">Scott has in fact created a pair of the prototype 32&#8243; <\/h2>\n<p id=\"elk-39097ac2-ebf4-4abb-b28a-b02e1e4c6cb0\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"kiosq-b\">Debate surrounding 32&#8243; wheels has been swirling all year, but they are nothing new, having been a niche, little-used size for a long time. What is new is the fact that more and more manufacturers and brands are producing gravel bikes with this wheel size.<\/p>\n<p aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"kiosq-b\">We spotted 32&#8243; wheels at the Cycleworld D\u00fcsseldorf show back in March, and again being exhibited at Bespoked London a few months later.<\/p>\n<p aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"kiosq-b\">A regular &#8216;700c&#8217; wheel, the de-rigueur sizing standard for every road and gravel bike these days, has a BSD (Bead Seat Diameter) of 622mm, whereas a 32&#8243; wheel has a BSD of 686mm.<\/p>\n<p aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"kiosq-b\">Bigger wheels mean more speed, and for gravel racers on fast courses, a bigger wheel may well offer an advantage over a 700c option. There&#8217;s also a point on improved obstacle rollover, something that formed a key part of the debate when the mountain bike world embraced 29&#8243; wheels.<\/p>\n<p aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"kiosq-b\">32&#8243; bikes are generally said to better suit taller riders, due to the bigger size and larger frames, which need to be custom-made to suit the wheels.<\/p>\n<p aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"kiosq-b\">Gravel racing equipment is still developing rapidly, and a focus on making bikes faster is still a key direction of travel. If competitors decide 32&#8243; wheels offer an advantage and embrace them, we may see more and more brands creating bikes for this larger size.<\/p>\n<p aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"kiosq-b\">New standards and sizes are often met with scorn in the bike world. bike this weekend, with Scott creating a prototype gravel bike to be ridden by Cameron Jones, but never to be released.<\/p>\n<p>Bigger-wheeled 32&#8243; gravel bikes have been a tech theme of this year, and this moment signals a milestone as a major manufacturer experiments with the technology in the biggest gravel event in the world.<\/p>\n<p id=\"elk-67e35126-8967-4d69-8573-1eeedd97eae7-2\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"kiosq-b\">Scott has in fact created a pair of the prototype 32&#8243; <\/h2>\n<p id=\"elk-39097ac2-ebf4-4abb-b28a-b02e1e4c6cb0\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"kiosq-b\">Debate surrounding 32&#8243; wheels has been swirling all year, but they are nothing new, having been a niche, little-used size for a long time. What is new is the fact that more and more manufacturers and brands are producing gravel bikes with this wheel size.<\/p>\n<p aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"kiosq-b\">We spotted 32&#8243; wheels at the Cycleworld D\u00fcsseldorf show back in March, and again being exhibited at Bespoked London a few months later.<\/p>\n<p aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"kiosq-b\">A regular &#8216;700c&#8217; wheel, the de-rigueur sizing standard for every road and gravel bike these days, has a BSD (Bead Seat Diameter) of 622mm, whereas a 32&#8243; wheel has a BSD of 686mm.<\/p>\n<p aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"kiosq-b\">Bigger wheels mean more speed, and for gravel racers on fast courses, a bigger wheel may well offer an advantage over a 700c option. There&#8217;s also a point on improved obstacle rollover, something that formed a key part of the debate when the mountain bike world embraced 29&#8243; wheels.<\/p>\n<p aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"kiosq-b\">32&#8243; bikes are generally said to better suit taller riders, due to the bigger size and larger frames, which need to be custom-made to suit the wheels.<\/p>\n<p aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"kiosq-b\">Gravel racing equipment is still developing rapidly, and a focus on making bikes faster is still a key direction of travel. <\/h2>\n<p id=\"elk-39097ac2-ebf4-4abb-b28a-b02e1e4c6cb0\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"kiosq-b\">Debate surrounding 32&#8243; wheels has been swirling all year, but they are nothing new, having been a niche, little-used size for a long time. What is new is the fact that more and more manufacturers and brands are producing gravel bikes with this wheel size.<\/p>\n<p aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"kiosq-b\">We spotted 32&#8243; wheels at the Cycleworld D\u00fcsseldorf show back in March, and again being exhibited at Bespoked London a few months later.<\/p>\n<p aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"kiosq-b\">A regular &#8216;700c&#8217; wheel, the de-rigueur sizing standard for every road and gravel bike these days, has a BSD (Bead Seat Diameter) of 622mm, whereas a 32&#8243; wheel has a BSD of 686mm.<\/p>\n<p aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"kiosq-b\">Bigger wheels mean more speed, and for gravel racers on fast courses, a bigger wheel may well offer an advantage over a 700c option. There&#8217;s also a point on improved obstacle rollover, something that formed a key part of the debate when the mountain bike world embraced 29&#8243; wheels.<\/p>\n<p aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"kiosq-b\">32&#8243; bikes are generally said to better suit taller riders, due to the bigger size and larger frames, which need to be custom-made to suit the wheels.<\/p>\n<p aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"kiosq-b\">Gravel racing equipment is still developing rapidly, and a focus on making bikes faster is still a key direction of travel. If competitors decide 32&#8243; wheels offer an advantage and embrace them, we may see more and more brands creating bikes for this larger size.<\/p>\n<p aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"kiosq-b\">New standards and sizes are often met with scorn in the bike world.
