The tour wraps May 30 in Philadelphia after that date was postponed because of an NBA scheduling conflict.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tThe setlist remains unchanged since Springsteen and company added the Clash\u2019s \u201cClampdown\u201d to the set during the third show in Inglewood, California. Springsteen didn\u2019t even vary the show to reference the previous night\u2019s end of Stephen Colbert\u2019s late-night TV reign (he sang \u201cStreets of Minneapolis\u201d on the penultimate episode) or the Cleveland Cavaliers\u2019 spot in the NBA Eastern Conference Finals. The Boss did, however, reference the city\u2019s Agora, site of revered live radio broadcasts during the \u201970s, and emotionally thanked the city \u201cfor a lifetime\u201d of devotion.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tPrimarily, the New Jersey rocker continued to present as ferocious and committed, pulling no punches as he slammed \u201creckless, racist, incompetent, treasonous\u201d U.S. President Donald Trump\u2019s policies and \u201csuper fools administration.\u201d His words \u2014 delivered by Springsteen as part pulpit-pumping preacher and part podium-pounding representative of the people, with just enough Rock Star thrown in \u2014 were strong. But it was the 27 songs that really put weight behind the message, as the E Street troupe during its two-hours and 50 minutes on stage.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tThe repertoire is carefully considered and curated, from the opening protest of the Temptations\/Edwin Starr Vietnam era hit \u201cWar\u201d through the hymn-like closing of Bob Dylan\u2019s \u201cChimes of Freedom.\u201d In between, Springsteen offered a treatise and sermon about not just what\u2019s wrong in America today but also what can be right. He\u2019s certainly taking his crowds to the \u201cDarkness on the Edge of Town,\u201d but he wants to bring them back as well.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\t\u201cWe needed to come to Cleveland\u2026 to feel your strength and your hope and your faith,\u201d Springsteen explained at the end of the night. \u201cAnd we needed to bring some strength and some hope and some faith.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tThat, in turn, made the optimism of \u201cThe Promised Land,\u201d \u201cLong Walk Home,\u201d \u201cCity of Ruins,\u201d \u201cLand of Hope and Dreams\u201d (with its snippet of the Impressions\u2019 \u201cPeople Get Ready\u201d and \u201cThis American Land\u201d essential and uplifting moments, as crucial to the conversation as \u201cDeath to My Hometown\u201d and \u201cMurder Incorporated.\u201d There is indeed \u201ctrouble in the heartland,\u201d but the belief in the love, faith and hope that Springsteen sings about in \u201cBadlands\u201d remains central, aspirational and achievable.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tIt was also, lest we forget, one helluva rock \u2019n\u2019 roll show, with the expanded E Street Band operating at peak power \u2014 including the return of Rage Against the Machine\u2019s Tom Morello as a featured guest. And Bruce Springsteen, at 76, may have adopted a well-honed economy of movement, but he remained a commanding presence \u2014 and, yes, still a force of nature onstage.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tNearly every song provided a highlight of one kind or another, but we\u2019ll go with these as our 10 best moments from an exciting night near the banks of Lake Erie.<\/p>\n<div id=\"pmc-gallery-vertical\">\n<div class=\"c-gallery-vertical-loader u-gallery-app-shell-loader\">\n<ul class=\"pmc-fallback-list-items lrv-a-unstyle-list lrv-u-margin-t-2\">\n<li class=\"pmc-fallback-list-item-wrap lrv-u-margin-b-2\">\n<article class=\"pmc-fallback-list-item\">\n<h2>Sweet, Sweet Jenny<\/h2>\n<div class=\"pmc-not-a-paywall\">\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tThis week\u2019s tour stops \u2014 in Cleveland and, three nights earlier, Pittsburgh \u2014 are perhaps where \u201cYoungstown,\u201d from 1995\u2019s <em>The Ghost of Tom Joad<\/em>, resonates most deeply. The city sits just over 60 miles east of Rocket Arena, and, as expected, the song\u2019s opening reference to \u201cnortheast Ohio\u201d drew a massive roar from a largely boomer crowd that still feels the sting of the Rust Belt decline it chronicles. Fists shot into the air with the chorus, while Nils Lofgren punctuated the performance with a fiery, dynamic guitar solo that ranked among the night\u2019s best musical moments \u2014 though he nearly matched it later with another blazing turn during \u201cBecause the Night.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/article>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"pmc-fallback-list-item-wrap lrv-u-margin-b-2\">\n<article class=\"pmc-fallback-list-item\">\n<h2>Never Surrender<\/h2>\n<div class=\"pmc-not-a-paywall\">\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tAfter Little Steven Van Zandt revealed to the U.K.\u2019s <em>Daily Mail<\/em> that Bruce Springsteen and the tour had faced increased death threats and heightened security, it would have been understandable if Springsteen skipped his customary trip into the crowd during \u201cTenth Avenue Freeze-Out.\u201d But that\u2019s not how he operates. Security personnel were certainly stationed at strategic points, yet he was off the stage moments after the song began, making his way down a ramp that cut across the arena floor, shaking hands and getting genuinely up close and personal with fans. Faith, as he likes to sing, was indeed rewarded.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/article>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"pmc-fallback-list-item-wrap lrv-u-margin-b-2\">\n<article class=\"pmc-fallback-list-item\">\n<h2>The Morello Factor<\/h2>\n<div class=\"pmc-not-a-paywall\">\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tThe Rage Against the Machine\/Audioslave et al shredder has been E Street-adjacent since Rage covered \u201cThe Ghost of Tom Joad\u201d and Morello later joined Bruce Springsteen onstage in Anaheim in 2008. On Friday, as throughout the tour, he appeared on roughly a dozen songs, dressed in a black T-shirt, red kerchief, baseball cap and shades while dueting with Springsteen on \u201c\u2026Tom Joad\u201d and unleashing his signature six-string sonic detonations at key moments throughout the set.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tHis standout performance, however, came during \u201cAmerican Skin (41 Shots),\u201d where he summoned a kind of \u201cPurple Rain\u201d-level transcendence in two searing solos that elevated the song to another plane. Its refrain \u2014 \u201cyou can get killed just for living in your American skin\u201d \u2014 landed with even greater force amid Springsteen\u2019s references throughout the night to ICE victims Ren\u00e9e Good and Alex Pretti.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/article>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"pmc-fallback-list-item-wrap lrv-u-margin-b-2\">\n<article class=\"pmc-fallback-list-item\">\n<h2>The Clash Klatsch<\/h2>\n<div class=\"pmc-not-a-paywall\">\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tThe \u201cnew\u201d edition to the setlist, now 15 shows in, proved apt and on-target with its mentions of a ransacked kingdom and \u201cthese days of evil presidencies.\u201d Morello, brandishing his \u201carm the homeless\u201d guitar, took some lead vocals on this one as well, while the might of the full E Street Band ensemble took the tune beyond what the Clash likely had in mind when it recorded \u201cClampdown\u201d for 1979\u2019s <em>London Calling<\/em>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/article>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"pmc-fallback-list-item-wrap lrv-u-margin-b-2\">\n<article class=\"pmc-fallback-list-item\">\n<h2>Sparks Fly<\/h2>\n<div class=\"pmc-not-a-paywall\">\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tFor longtime Springsteen and E Street Band fans, there\u2019s a moment during \u201cBadlands\u201d that can\u2019t help but stop your heart. After Springsteen\u2019s guitar break, saxophonist Jake Clemons \u2014 who\u2019s been in his late uncle Clarence \u201cBig Man\u201d Clemons\u2019 spot since 2012 \u2014 followed with a solo of his own, after which the two clasped hands and held them aloft, invoking a bond between E Street past and present.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/article>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"pmc-fallback-list-item-wrap lrv-u-margin-b-2\">\n<article class=\"pmc-fallback-list-item\">\n<h2>Naming the Names<\/h2>\n<div class=\"pmc-not-a-paywall\">\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tSpringsteen offered no quarter in his handful of prepared remarks throughout the night. Though identical to the other shows, they were nevertheless up to date, making note before \u201cLand of Hope and Dreams\u201d that \u201cthe Supreme Court gutted the voting rights act and historically set back our hard-fought-for Civil Rights movement, a movement for which people marched, fought and gave their lives. This is happening now\u201d \u2014 and something that\u2019s happened since the tour began. <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tHis specificity included foreign, domestic and economic policies and bemoaned that American has become a \u201creckless, unpredictable, predatory, untrustworthy, rogue nation.\u201d He struck an encouraging, tone, however, in declaring that \u201chonesty, honor, humility, character, truth, compassion, humanity, kindness, morality, strength, believe in justice and decently \u2014 don\u2019t let anybody tell you that these things don\u2019t matter anymore. They do. They are at the heart of the kind of men and women we are, the kind of citizens we want to be and the kind of country we want to leave to our children.\u201d <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tSpringsteen tasked the crowd to \u201cfind a way to take aggressive, peaceful action to defend our country\u2019s ideas,\u201d invoking the late Civil Rights leader and U.S. Representative John Lewis\u2019 admonition to \u201cgo out and get in good trouble \u2014 say something, do something, sing something!\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/article>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"pmc-fallback-list-item-wrap lrv-u-margin-b-2\">\n<article class=\"pmc-fallback-list-item\">\n<h2>Singing Out<\/h2>\n<div class=\"pmc-not-a-paywall\">\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tHaving 15 folks who sing, including the five-member E Street Choir, where were some moments of soul stirring a cappella, especially during \u201cStreets of Minneapolis\u201d (\u201cLet \u2019em hear you in Washington,\u201d Springsteen announced just before) and \u201cLong Walk Home.\u201d The chorale also allowed \u201cAmerican Skin\u201d and \u201cMy City of Ruins,\u201d to soar to spiritual heights beyond previous renditions.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/article>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"pmc-fallback-list-item-wrap lrv-u-margin-b-2\">\n<article class=\"pmc-fallback-list-item\">\n<h2>Special Souvenirs<\/h2>\n<div class=\"pmc-not-a-paywall\">\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tSpringsteen\u2019s harmonica giveaways have become a thing at his shows, and he did not disappoint on Friday. After taking a rose from a young girl during \u201cThe Promised Land,\u201d he returned the short ramp that jutted from the center of the stage and found two recipients at the front, specifically targeting them even if it meant gesturing another fan aside.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/article>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"pmc-fallback-list-item-wrap lrv-u-margin-b-2\">\n<article class=\"pmc-fallback-list-item\">\n<h2>Ballot Boosting<\/h2>\n<div class=\"pmc-not-a-paywall\">\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tDuring his usual \u201cHungry Heart\u201d performance to fans seated behind the stage \u2014 which lit up a variety of supportive signs and flags some carried into the show \u2014 one woman sporting a blue \u201cSpringsteen For President 2026\u201d T-shirt ran into one of the aisles.
