\n\t\u201cA couple years ago, my kids were tripping out and like, \u2018Dad, you gotta re-release this,\u2019 \u2019cause it was 20 years since it came out,\u201d Lee recently explained to Billboard<\/em>of the new project. \u201cI didn\u2019t really think much of it, but then the studio got done being built and I was like, \u2018I wanna remix some of my stuff\u2019 \u2014 one being\u00a0Tommyland: The Ride<\/em>, for its anniversary.<\/p>\n
\n\t\u201cSo I learned the process, and once you hear Dolby Atmos, it\u2019s insane. I\u2019ll never listen to regular stereo again. And now we\u2019re going down the rabbit hole and I\u2019m remixing anything.\u201d The release includes a new bonus track, \u201cStupid World,\u201d featuring alt-rock artist and former professional skateboarder Chad Tepper, alongside an accompanying music video. <\/p>\n\n

\n\tPhysical formats \u2014 including CD and, for the first time, vinyl \u2014 follow on Sept. 18.<\/p>\n
\n\t\u201cWhenever I do something solo, without Motley Crue, I\u2019m like a little kid in a sandbox,\u201d Lee said. \u201cIt\u2019s just you, and you sort of have the freedom to do whatever it is that\u2019s blowing your skirt up.<\/p>\n
\n\t\u201cThe cover art kind of says it all; it\u2019s basically a, like, roller coaster (track) going into my ear, into my f***in\u2019 crazy, eclectic musical styles mind, and that\u2019s what it\u2019s always been.\u201d<\/p>\n
\n\tThe original Tommyland: The Ride<\/em>, released independently in August 2005, peaked at No. 62 on the Billboard 200 and produced lead single \u201cGood Times\u201d featuring Butch Walker, which reached No. 95 on the Billboard Hot 100 and served as the theme song for Lee\u2019s NBC reality series Tommy Lee Goes to College<\/em>. <\/p>\n
\n\tThe album was part of an ambitious multimedia rollout that also included Lee\u2019s autobiography of the same name. Despite its modest chart performance, the record featured a heavyweight cast of collaborators spanning rock, pop and punk \u2014 among them Nickelback\u2019s Chad Kroeger, Good Charlotte\u2019s Joel Madden, Backstreet Boys\u2019 Nick Carter, Sum 41\u2019s Deryck Whibley, Dave Navarro of Jane\u2019s Addiction, Andrew McMahon and Butch Walker.<\/p>\n
\n\tTwo decades on, Lee says the Dolby Atmos technology available at his studio made revisiting the album irresistible. \u201cThe cover art invites you to take a ride inside my twisted musical world and experience its new life after 20 years,\u201d he said. \u201cAnd in Dolby Atmos.\u201d <\/p>\n
\n\tThe release arrives as Lee heads back on the road with M\u00f6tley Cr\u00fce for The Return of the Carnival of Sins tour this summer, celebrating both the 20th anniversary of that original 2005 concert run and the band\u2019s 45th anniversary. M\u00f6tley Cr\u00fce have sold more than 100 million records worldwide and hold a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.<\/p>\n\n
