You heard the man. Lewis Hamilton has firmly put the idea of retirement from F1 to bed, revealing that he\u2019s planning to be on the grid for the next five years at least.<\/p>\n

That would mean racing beyond his 45th birthday \u2013 the same age Aston\u2019s Fernando Alonso is now \u2013 and into the 2030s. Wowzers.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

The seven-time champ sent shockwaves through the sport by making the switch from Mercedes to Ferrari<\/a> for 2025, but his first season with the Italian team was a disaster, fuelling rumours that he could soon hang up his helmet.<\/p>\n

But he\u2019s started 2026 in much better form \u2013 scoring his first podium in red in China back in March \u2013 and far closer to the pace of teammate Charles Leclerc. And ahead of this weekend\u2019s Canadian Grand Prix he has confirmed for the first time that he is \u201cstill in contract\u201d with Ferrari for 2027.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cSo everything is 100 per cent clear to me,\u201d he explained. \u201cAnd yeah, I\u2019m still focused, I\u2019m still motivated, I still love what I do with all my heart, and I\u2019m going to be here for quite some time. So get used to it.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere\u2019s a lot of people that are trying to retire me and that\u2019s not even in my thoughts. I\u2019m already thinking of what will be next, planning for the next five years.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cBut yeah, [I] still plan to be here for some time.\u201d<\/p>\n

Not quite Wolf of Wall Street<\/em> levels of \u2018I\u2019m not leaving!\u2019, but unequivocal nonetheless. And if nothing else that means more high-production, smokey videos in very exotic cars<\/a>.<\/p>\n
