Granted, these changes aren&#8217;t expected to be in effect until September 2026, so maybe Nintendo is banking on people grabbing a console before the hikes hit? The rise is not an insubstantial amount (in the US a console rises from $449.99 to $499.99, in Canada from $629.99 to $679.99, and in Europe from \u20ac469.99 to \u20ac499.99).<\/p>\n<p>This isn&#8217;t the first time we&#8217;ve seen Nintendo revise its expectations, either: last year, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.eurogamer.net\/nintendo-predicts-switch-2-will-outsell-its-predecessor-at-launch-despite-demand-exceeding-expectations\">Nintendo revised Switch 2 sales up from 15 million to 19 million<\/a> after the console saw a particularly strong start out the gates, with plenty of demand for both the hardware, and software like <a href=\"https:\/\/www.eurogamer.net\/games\/mario-kart-world\">Mario Kart World<\/a>. The company even admitted <a href=\"https:\/\/www.eurogamer.net\/nintendo-admits-switch-2-demand-far-exceeds-expectations-in-japan-as-company-president-offers-stark-warning-over-stock\">the console &#8220;far exceeded its expectations&#8221;<\/a>, as the new hardware outpaced even the original Nintendo Switch.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"injection_placeholder\" data-position=\"1\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Given the &#8220;changes in market conditions&#8221; as well as the &#8220;global business outlook&#8221; that were cited as reasons for the Switch 2 price hike (and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nintendo.co.jp\/corporate\/release\/en\/2026\/260508.html\">the heartfelt apology<\/a> the company issued to its customers), I&#8217;m surprised to see Nintendo think aim so high. What&#8217;s it got waiting in the wings for us? There must be more than <a href=\"https:\/\/www.eurogamer.net\/a-remake-of-star-fox-64-is-coming-to-switch-2-this-june\">a Star Fox remake<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.eurogamer.net\/nintendo-reveals-new-fire-emblem-game-coming-to-switch-2\">a new Fire Emblem<\/a> buoying its financial expectations for the next fiscal year? I guess we&#8217;ll find out soon enough; the big summer game event jamboree is nearly upon us, after all.<\/p>\n<p>Maybe <a href=\"https:\/\/www.eurogamer.net\/all-new-star-fox-and-zelda-ocarina-of-time-remake-reportedly-set-for-switch-2-release-this-year\">that rumoured Ocarina of Time remake<\/a> is legit, and underpins this confidence the House of Mario has in its platform?
