sad for the star and all of his fans, but it will have an inadvertent effect on British tennis.<\/p>\n<p>Alcaraz confirmed he would not play either Queen\u2019s or Wimbledon, effectively confirming he will miss the entirety of the grass court swing this June and July.<\/p>\n<p>The Spaniard has already been forced out of the Madrid Open, the Italian Open, and Roland Garros, so his wrist injury is looking like it could derail his entire career.<\/p>\n<p>However, it\u2019s ended up being very good news for British star Jan Choinski, and, in turn, British tennis as a whole.<\/p>\n<p>Choinski sits at World No. 101, following his title victory at the Zagreb Challenger recently. That means he will earn automatic access into <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tennis365.com\/tag\/wimbledon\">Wimbledon<\/a> due to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tennis365.com\/tag\/carlos-alcaraz\">Alcaraz\u2019s<\/a> withdrawal.<\/p>\n<h2>More Carlos Alcaraz news<\/h2>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.tennis365.com\/tennis-news\/carlos-alcaraz-prize-money-rankings-blow-wimbledon-withdrawal\">Carlos Alcaraz set for prize money and rankings blow after Wimbledon withdrawal<\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.tennis365.com\/tennis-news\/atp-tour-urged-rethink-rule-jannik-sinner-carlos-alcaraz-have-exploited\">ATP Tour urged to rethink rule Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz have \u2018exploited\u2019<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Not only is that great news for the 29-year-old Brit, but it will also free up a wildcard pick for the grass court Grand Slam.<\/p>\n<p>There are several high-profile players currently outside the top 100 who will be hoping to earn a wildcard, so Choinski will have eased the burden.<\/p>\n<p>Only eight men are given wildcards at Wimbledon and it\u2019s looking increasingly likely that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tennis365.com\/tag\/jack-draper\">Jack Draper<\/a> might need one when Wimbledon swings around.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.tennis365.com\/tag\/stan-wawrinka\">Stan Wawrinka<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tennis365.com\/tag\/gael-monfils\">Gael Monfils<\/a>, too, could be outside bets for a wildcard as it would be their final-ever Wimbledon in their retirement years.<\/p>\n<p>That would leave five wildcard picks on the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tennis365.com\/tag\/ATP-Tour\">ATP Tour<\/a> and there are plenty of names who could realistically stake their claim for one.<\/p>\n<p>Veterans <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tennis365.com\/tag\/Liam-Broady\">Liam Broady<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tennis365.com\/tag\/Dan-Evans\">Dan Evans<\/a> have both been toiling away, having both returned from injury recently.
