A charity has teamed up with Amazon to offer internships for young adults. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Placements, including in warehousing and logistics, at the Amazon warehouse near Hull will be offered to those aged 18 to 24 with an Education Health and Care Plan (EHCP).<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

The scheme was created by Project Search, a national charity that enables young adults with learning disabilities to secure permanent employment.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Councillor Victoria Aitken, East Riding of Yorkshire Council’s cabinet member for children, families and education, said it was a “great opportunity” for young people with an EHCP to gain experience of working and developing workplace skills.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

The year-long programme will begin in September and will see interns taking part in a mix of departments, supported by a job coach and workplace mentor.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

The council said the scheme, at the site just outside North Ferriby, would help young people transition from education into employment.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Classroom-based learning delivered by Humber Learning Consortium will also be on hand for students to develop employability skills as part of the programme.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

An online event is taking place on 20 May from 13:00 to 14:00 BST and 18:00 to 19:00 for those interested to be given an overview of the programme and details of how to apply.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

The new programme is being delivered in partnership with Humber Learning Consortium, East Riding of Yorkshire Council and Hull City Council.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Humberside Police, City Health Care Partnership, Siemens Mobility and Asda also run internship programmes supporting students.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
