Heck, how could you forget? We’ve been looking forward to it ever since it was announced last June. Apparently there’s also a Dutch chap racing this weekend though, and that has rather dominated the media coverage.

Anyway, the three HWA cars will be competing in the SP-X class with pro-am driver lineups, and we’re told the focus is “not only on sporting results but also on development under extreme conditions”.

Now, this will of course benefit the brilliant EVO restomod road cars, but HWA has also announced that it’ll sell 15 examples of a new track-only customer car that’s based on the EVO.R racecar. Rather confusingly, this will be called the HWA EVO R. Note the space rather than the decimal point.

No word on how much the EVO R will cost, but we do know it’ll get the reinforced monocoque chassis, the FIA-homologated roll cage and the special fuel cell of the racecar. It’ll also get the full carbon bodywork with its ridiculously wide arches and many vents, plus there’ll be polycarbonate windows, removable rear doors and bespoke RONAL racing wheels. Hopefully retro liveries are also an option.

The 3.0-litre twin-turbo V6 is more powerful here than it is in the road car too, with power up from around the 500bhp mark to 552bhp. There’s also a hefty 494lb ft of torque and a six-speed sequential gearbox, plus AP Racing brakes and six-way adjustable suspension that was developed with KW and H&R. Buyers also get a racing exhaust and an integrated airjack lift system.

On the inside it’ll be every inch the racecar, with a full carbon racing seat, a moveable pedal box and lots of good switchgear. However, the 15 customers will also be able to spec an optional passenger seat, a drinks system and air conditioning.
