Niels van Roij, a Dutch coachbuilder responsible for many fine, interesting automotive items, has announced that he and his team are to create yet another: a modern intepretation of the one-off Ferrari Daytona Shooting Brake<\/a> from the 1970s.<\/p>\n

This car, provisionally dubbed the Daytona Shooting Brake Hommage \u2013 tin, what it says on, does, etc \u2013 will apparently retain its Ferrari donor\u2019s front-engined V12 underpinnings, but completely reimagine the body using his talent and lots and lots of hand-formed aluminium.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

It will feature \u201ca dramatically revised interior and roofline, with an elongated rear and sharply raked Kamm tail\u201d, along with butterfly side windows because sure, why the hell not.<\/p>\n

Only these initial renders exist, but we\u2019ll see the finished product at this year\u2019s RAC Concours on 8 July. \u201cTranslating the legendary 1970s shooting brake into a contemporary design language has been a complex process,\u201d said van Roij. \u201cOur aim has always been to celebrate the original without being constrained by it creatively.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

It\u2019ll be shown\u2026 and then immediately whisked off into private ownership, van Roij added, but you can follow its development on something called \u2018social media\u2019.<\/p>\n

\u201cDesigning the Daytona Shooting Brake Hommage has been both an honour and a rare opportunity,\u201d he said. \u201cThere is a unique sense of occasion in creating something that will never be repeated.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
