while the executors also received praise for their work &#8230; TMZ has learned.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n<section id=\"cb-f24518c303b937759cc325c92d968b35\" class=\"canvas-block canvas-block-permalink canvas-text-block canvas-text-block-permalink canvas-text-block--default  \" data-context='{\"section\":\"permalink\",\"name\":\"text_block\"}'>\n<p>According to court docs, obtained by TMZ, a Los Angeles judge ruled that $625K in bonuses &#8212; paid by executors <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tmz.com\/people\/john-branca\/\" rel=\"noreferrer\"><strong>John Branca<\/strong><\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tmz.com\/people\/john-mcclain\/\" rel=\"noreferrer\"><strong>John McClain<\/strong><\/a> to third-party law firms &#8212; last year, Paris <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tmz.com\/2026\/03\/21\/michael-jackson-estate-slams-paris-after-biopic-complaints\/\" rel=\"noreferrer\"><strong>raised concerns<\/strong><\/a> about certain bonuses paid out to third-party law firms that worked on the estate in 2018. Paris claimed the bonuses were excessive and not approved.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n<section id=\"cb-cd5ec503ed25f9f9a44dc33a98c003be\" class=\"canvas-block canvas-block-permalink canvas-text-block canvas-text-block-permalink canvas-text-block--default  \" data-context='{\"section\":\"permalink\",\"name\":\"text_block\"}'>\n<p>At the time, Paris&#8217; lawyer argued the &#8220;irregular payments raise serious and substantial questions about Executors\u2019 ability to effectively supervise counsel&#8221; and questioned the so-called &#8220;wasteful, six-figure gift-giving to themselves and their colleagues.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/section>\n<section id=\"cb-76a1141adf823cb3cce847e15ab4f74e\" class=\"canvas-block canvas-block-permalink canvas-text-block canvas-text-block-permalink canvas-text-block--default  \" data-context='{\"section\":\"permalink\",\"name\":\"text_block\"}'>\n<p>In another filing, Paris claimed, &#8220;the present records suggest a group of closely-knit, work the executors did to transform the estate into the financial powerhouse it is today, noting they had created &#8220;real and substantial generational wealth&#8221; for Paris and her two brothers &#8230; but ultimately decided the $625K in bonuses were not approved and needed to be returned to the estate.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n<section id=\"cb-b61c56030dce6881e8db89b8353ec3c2\" for the executors tells TMZ, &#8220;We are gratified that the Court itself recognized and praised the work of the Executors and its outside counsel in today&#8217;s other bonuses to outside counsel over the years for their extraordinary services, and this was the first time they were the subject of objections, the Executors have always understood that legal fees are subject to court approval and have always required outside counsel to agree to return any funds to the estate if the payments were not approved.\u201d The rep pointed out the bonuses were not paid
