He will not be suspended for Game 5 on Tuesday and will not receive an additional fine.<\/p>\n<div data-ath-video-stream=\"aQytW8ufbmso6gD\"><\/div>\n<p>\u201cI don\u2019t know the legality or the rules, but there was zero intent,\u201d Spurs coach Mitch Johnson said Sunday when asked about the possibility of Wembanyama being suspended for Game 5. \u201cThey did what they did because of the outcome of the play \u2014 so be it. But to have anything on top of that would be ridiculous.\u201d<\/p>\n<div class=\"ad-container\">\n<div class=\"ad-wrapper article-treatment\">\n<div class=\"ad-slug-container\">\n<p class=\"ad-slug\">Advertisement<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div id=\"mid1\" data-position=\"mid1\" class=\"ad place-ad\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>Wembanyama, the NBA\u2019s Defensive Player of the Year this season, was coming off one of the best performances of his career in Game 3 prior to his Game 4 ejection. After grabbing a rebound over Reid, Wembanyama was trapped by Reid and Jaden McDaniels, who held onto Wembanyama\u2019s off arm. The Spurs center then looked to his right, appearing to see Reid, and swung a high elbow that landed squarely on Reid\u2019s neck and sent the Wolves big tumbling to the hardwood.<\/p>\n<div id=\"top-league-content-root\"><\/div>\n<p>    {&#8220;endpoint&#8221;:&#8221;https:\/\/api-prd-nyt.theathletic.com\/graphql&#8221;}<\/p>\n<p>With Wembanyama out, the Spurs led for much of the second half before the Timberwolves rallied in the fourth quarter behind Anthony Edwards\u2019 36 points.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m glad (Wembanyama) took matters into his own hands,\u201d Johnson said Sunday. \u201cNot in terms of hitting Naz Reid, by all means (I\u2019m) being very clear about that. I\u2019m glad Naz Reid is OK, and I didn\u2019t want him to elbow him. But he\u2019s going to have to protect himself if they\u2019re not.
