Despite being generally well-received in the market, behind the scenes we\u2019ve heard some grumbles about how Fazua\u2019s drive system just isn\u2019t getting the updates and support it needs to be a viable spec option for product managers. And this announcement from parent company Porsche likely explains why.<\/p>\n<p>After initially <a href=\"https:\/\/bikerumor.com\/porsche-fazua-acquisition\/\">buying a small stake<\/a> in the brand earlier that year, Porsche <a href=\"https:\/\/bikerumor.com\/porshce-fully-acquires-fazua\/\">fully acquired Fazua<\/a> in mid-2022. In 2018, they started acquiring ownership in Rimac, a boutique hypercar manufacturer that also owned Greyp e-bikes. While Greyp never really took off, partly due to the dated geometry of their bikes, the brand had some very interesting connected technology (and the people at the brand were fantastic). By 2021, Porsche held almost half of Rimac and orchestrated a joint venture between them and Bugatti.<\/p>\n<p>Now, all of these brands are being sold off. The TL;DR is this: Porsche is selling off non-Porsche brands and refocusing exclusively on their core, which is making some pretty damn amazing automobiles. Unfortunately, that means Fazua will need to find a new owner. We don\u2019t have any other details, but will update as we learn more. This is the indispensable foundation for a successful strategic realignment. This forces us to make painful cuts \u2014 including our subsidiaries.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>Porsche eBike Performance<\/strong><br \/>Porsche eBike Performance GmbH was established to develop high\u2011performance e\u2011bike drive systems and market them worldwide. Due to fundamentally changed market conditions for e\u2011bike drive systems, the activities of the joint venture will be discontinued. This measure is in line with Porsche AG\u2019s strategic focus on its core business.
