If anyone\u2019s had a whirlwind few days, it\u2019s Emma Chamberlain. \u201cGod knows what I\u2019m saying [right now],\u201d she jokes over the phone from her home in Beverly Hills. But who could blame the OG YouTuber for nearing exhaustion? Just 72 hours prior to our call, fashion insiders \u2014 including The Zoe Report\u2019s editor-at-large, Rachel Zoe<\/a> \u2014 were in complete awe of her colorful Mugler confection at the 2026 Met Gala<\/a>, where she topped best-dressed lists. Days later, she was back in Los Angeles for yesterday\u2019s opening of Chamberlain Coffee\u2019s first standalone caf\u00e9 on Abbot Kinney Boulevard in Venice. \u201cIt\u2019s been a long week,\u201d Chamberlain admits. Still, her upbeat tone made it clear that she\u2019s still riding a high from both occasions.<\/p>\n

Indeed, Chamberlain generated major buzz for her custom look on Monday evening. \u201cAfter seeing his debut at fashion week, my stylist Jared [Ellner] and I fell in love with his work,\u201d she says of Mugler\u2019s new creative director, Miguel Castro Freitas, who designed the gown. (The piece \u2014 hand-painted by artist Anna Deller-Yee \u2014 took 40 hours to complete.) The night before presenting his inaugural Spring\/Summer 2026 line, Chamberlain met Freitas at a Vogue<\/em> cocktail party, where they hit it off immediately. She and Ellner floated the idea of a Met Gala collaboration, and his team was quick to get on board.<\/p>\n

When bringing the dress to life, Chamberlain drew from her roots \u2014 with a professional painter for a dad, the influence came naturally. \u201cI have a relationship with paintings, particularly oil and watercolor,\u201d she shares. \u201cWe discussed how we wanted the piece to sit on my body and what we wanted it to convey. After talking for hours, he came back with a sketch. We loved it immediately, made two or three small tweaks, and then we were off to the races.\u201d<\/p>\n
