Yes I\u2019m moving on.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He soon deleted the post and said that it was a \u201cblundering mistake\u201d to upload it, as he thought it was going to be sent as a private message.<\/p>\n<p>From there, Coyne made a post on Instagram confirming Drozd\u2019s departure but added that the \u201creason he left is sad and infuriating\u201d. He also said that it was \u201cHIS responsibility to tell everyone what happened\u201d, accused him of lying in his Threads post, and added: \u201cI was trying to give him his own space and time to let everyone know what REALLY happened.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Drozd then shared another update with fans, saying that he started to think \u201cit would be best for me and my family if I didn\u2019t tour anymore\u201d in 2024, and therefore sat out of the live shows in 2025. \u201cThen it just kinda went from there. After three days, it was confirmed that she had been \u201cfound and is safe\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s hard to get back into [touring after that] because it really was traumatic. She was missing for three days. We didn\u2019t know what was going on,\u201d Drozd told <em>Stereogum<\/em>, adding that the ordeal led to him going into treatment for drinking, and having to return to treatment again over the holidays after a \u201crelapse\u201d.<\/p>\n<div class=\"td-a-ad id_inline_ad2 id_ad_content-horiz-center\"><span class=\"td-adspot-title\">Advertisement<\/span>  <\/p>\n<div id=\"div-gpt-ad-article-2\" class=\"lazy-ad\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>\u201cI went back to treatment, and then Wayne just stopped communicating with me,\u201d he claimed. \u201cSo the way it ended is really sad because it didn\u2019t have to end that way\u2026 I haven\u2019t heard from him since January 3, 2025. But that didn\u2019t happen,\u201d he shared. \u201cSo, by the summer of last year, I knew. I knew it was over and that was it. I wasn\u2019t gonna be back in the Flaming Lips, and I kinda accepted it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Later in the interview, Drozd stated that he didn\u2019t want to \u201ctrash-talk the Lips\u201d, and added that he felt \u201cthe way the whole thing ended is just really sad.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI was surprised. It was upsetting. It upset my family. And people in Oklahoma City are all like, \u2018Wow, what\u2019s going on with that?\u201d I\u2019m like, I don\u2019t really know what to tell you,\u201d he said. \u201cIt\u2019s poopy, the way it all ended, and there\u2019s nothing I can do to change that. I went to treatment. And came home. And I relapsed around Christmas and went back to treatment. That\u2019s when Wayne just stopped talking to me. And that\u2019s how it ended.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><em>Stereogum<\/em> reports that a rep for Coyne declined to respond to the comments made by Drozd in the interview.<\/p>\n<p>Drozd is now working on a solo album and confirmed that he hopes to have it released this autumn. More details about the record are set to be announced soon.<\/p>\n<p>Late last year, Flaming Lips\u2019 drummer Matthew Duckworth Kirksey spoke about the band\u2019s plans for the future, saying that they had \u201cnew music on the way\u201d and considers it to be \u201cthe best thing we\u2019ve done in ages\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Among their upcoming live dates is a slot at Latitude Festival, where they td-fix-index\">\n<p>Steven Drozd has opened up about being fired from Flaming Lips, saying that frontman Wayne Coyne \u201cjust stopped communicating with\u201d him after he \u201cwent back to \/>\n<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Uncertainty about Drozd\u2019s place in the indie band arose last year, when the multi-instrumentalist was absent from their live shows and replaced by AJ Slaughter.<\/p>\n<div class=\"td-a-ad id_inline_ad0 id_ad_content-horiz-center\"><span class=\"td-adspot-title\">Advertisement<\/span>  <\/p>\n<div id=\"div-gpt-ad-article-1\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>At the time, none of the members publicly addressed the line-up change, however, in December Drozd accidentally confirmed his departure on Threads, writing: \u201cThey\u2019re done with me \u2013 but we\u2019re not talking about it. Yes I\u2019m moving on.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He soon deleted the post and said that it was a \u201cblundering mistake\u201d to upload it, as he thought it was going to be sent as a private message.<\/p>\n<p>From there, Coyne made a post on Instagram confirming Drozd\u2019s departure but added that the \u201creason he left is sad and infuriating\u201d. He also said that it was \u201cHIS responsibility to tell everyone what happened\u201d, accused him of lying in his Threads post, and added: \u201cI was trying to give him his own space and time to let everyone know what REALLY happened.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Drozd then shared another update with fans, saying that he started to think \u201cit would be best for me and my family if I didn\u2019t tour anymore\u201d in 2024, and therefore sat out of the live shows in 2025. \u201cThen it just kinda went from there. After three days, it was confirmed that she had been \u201cfound and is safe\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s hard to get back into [touring after that] because it really was traumatic. She was missing for three days. We didn\u2019t know what was going on,\u201d Drozd told <em>Stereogum<\/em>, adding that the ordeal led to him going into treatment for drinking, and having to return to treatment again over the holidays after a \u201crelapse\u201d.<\/p>\n<div class=\"td-a-ad id_inline_ad2 id_ad_content-horiz-center\"><span class=\"td-adspot-title\">Advertisement<\/span>  <\/p>\n<div id=\"div-gpt-ad-article-2\" class=\"lazy-ad\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>\u201cI went back to treatment, and then Wayne just stopped communicating with me,\u201d he claimed. \u201cSo the way it ended is really sad because it didn\u2019t have to end that way\u2026 I haven\u2019t heard from him since January 3, 2025. But that didn\u2019t happen,\u201d he shared. \u201cSo, by the summer of last year, I knew. I knew it was over and that was it. I wasn\u2019t gonna be back in the Flaming Lips, and I kinda accepted it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Later in the interview, Drozd stated that he didn\u2019t want to \u201ctrash-talk the Lips\u201d, and added that he felt \u201cthe way the whole thing ended is just really sad.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI was surprised. It was upsetting. It upset my family. And people in Oklahoma City are all like, \u2018Wow, what\u2019s going on with that?\u201d I\u2019m like, I don\u2019t really know what to tell you,\u201d he said. \u201cIt\u2019s poopy, the way it all ended, and there\u2019s nothing I can do to change that. I went to treatment. And came home. And I relapsed around Christmas and went back to treatment. That\u2019s when Wayne just stopped talking to me. And that\u2019s how it ended.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><em>Stereogum<\/em> reports that a rep for Coyne declined to respond to the comments made by Drozd in the interview.<\/p>\n<p>Drozd is now working on a solo album and confirmed that he hopes to have it released this autumn.
