Alongside polling company Ipsos, they\u00a0asked around 9,000 people from eight countries to listen to three tracks to\u00a0determine\u00a0which was fully AI-generated.<\/p>\n<p>According to the report, 97 per cent of those respondents \u201cfailed\u201d, with over half (52 per cent) saying they felt \u201cuncomfortable\u201d to not know the difference. 71 per cent also said that they were shocked\u00a0at\u00a0the results.<\/p>\n<p>Only 19 per cent said they felt that they could trust AI, while another 51 per cent said they believe the use of AI in music production could lead to low-quality and \u201cgeneric\u201d sounding music.<\/p>\n<div class=\"td-a-ad id_inline_ad2 id_ad_content-horiz-center\"><span class=\"td-adspot-title\">Advertisement<\/span>  <\/p>\n<div id=\"div-gpt-ad-article-2\" class=\"lazy-ad\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>In September,\u00a0Spotify confirmed that it was cracking down on AI by removing 75million \u201cspammy tracks\u201d and targeting impersonators. The statement, titled \u2018Spotify Strengthens AI Protections\u00a0For\u00a0Artists, Songwriters, And Producers\u2019,\u00a0added: \u201cAI technology is evolving fast, and we\u2019ll continue to roll out new policies frequently.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>This followed a report claiming that\u00a0AI-generated songs were being uploaded to dead musicians\u2019 Spotify profiles without permission.<\/p>\n<p>In March,\u00a0a singer-songwriter pleaded guilty to defrauding music streamers out of millions in royalties after flooding the services with thousands of AI-generated songs and automated bots.<\/p>\n<p>The UK government, meanwhile,\u00a0has announced it will ditch \u201cdeeply damaging\u201d plans to allow AI firms to use copyrighted work without permission, although many in the service every day, which amounts to 44 per cent of the total number.<\/p>\n<div class=\"td-a-ad id_inline_ad0 id_ad_content-horiz-center\"><span class=\"td-adspot-title\">Advertisement<\/span>  <\/p>\n<div id=\"div-gpt-ad-article-1\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>They have also said that AI-generated songs currently only amount to between one and three per cent of listening time by Deezer users, while they maintain that they are detecting and flagging 85 per cent of AI uploads, and thereby demonetising them.<\/p>\n<p>They installed an AI-detection tool at the start of 2025, and last summer, they committed to labelling any song flagged as AI with a tag. Alongside polling company Ipsos, they\u00a0asked around 9,000 people from eight countries to listen to three tracks to\u00a0determine\u00a0which was fully AI-generated.<\/p>\n<p>According to the report, 97 per cent of those respondents \u201cfailed\u201d, with over half (52 per cent) saying they felt \u201cuncomfortable\u201d to not know the difference. 71 per cent also said that they were shocked\u00a0at\u00a0the results.<\/p>\n<p>Only 19 per cent said they felt that they could trust AI, while another 51 per cent said they believe the use of AI in music production could lead to low-quality and \u201cgeneric\u201d sounding music.<\/p>\n<div class=\"td-a-ad id_inline_ad2 id_ad_content-horiz-center\"><span class=\"td-adspot-title\">Advertisement<\/span>  <\/p>\n<div id=\"div-gpt-ad-article-2\" class=\"lazy-ad\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>In September,\u00a0Spotify confirmed that it was cracking down on AI by removing 75million \u201cspammy tracks\u201d and targeting impersonators.
