Welcome to the summit of Mount Range Rover<\/a>. At this heady height you will find the Range Rover SV Ultra, a car its maker claims is no less than the \u201cpinnacle of Range Rover luxury\u201d.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s the toppiest, highest-spec, ahem, range<\/em>-topping Range Rover ever, offered as a 3.0-litre straight-six plug in hybrid with a P550e badge on the back (able to travel around 57 miles on e-power alone), as a 526bhp 4.4-litre pure V8 in P540 guise, or \u2013 later in 2026 \u2013 as a fully electric SUV with, probably, enough battery power to recharge Brazil.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

But the drivetrain is secondary. Despite being named after a particularly keen brand of footballing enthusiast, the SV Ultra is instead all about the audio, the materials, the finishes, and of course, the fact it\u2019s available by invitation only.<\/p>\n

So, the audio. Hoo boy, the audio. It comes fitted with what RR is calling the \u2018SV Electrostatic Sound\u2019 system, featuring 21 lightweight \u201cthin-film transducers\u201d integrated within the headrests, seatbacks, the headlining and existing speaker holes.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Then come an additional five bass speakers \u2013 because this Ultra be all about dat bass \u2013 that amount to an \u201cimmersive, crisp and detailed sound stage normally experienced in a studio or through the finest headphones\u201d.<\/p>\n

A sound stage that\u2019ll be experienced through your body, too, because the SV Ultra gets the \u201cbody and soul\u201d seats, that pulse to the riddims escaping that sound system, while even the floormats get in on the action too \u2013 there\u2019s haptic feedback. None of this is an April Fool\u2019s gag, either.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

About those materials. The transducers are just 1mm thick, apparently respond 1,000 times faster than a regular, puny Earth speaker, are 90 per cent lighter and require 90 per cent less power. Elsewhere, you\u2019ll find two-tone \u2018Ultrafabric\u2019 upholstery, rattan palm veneer, a new exterior paint option (\u2018Titan Silver\u2019 which we\u2019re guessing is\u2026 silver?), along with 23in alloys.<\/p>\n

\u201cRange Rover SV Ultra is one of the finest expressions of Range Rover luxury we have ever created,\u201d said Range Rover\u2019s global MD Martin Limpert. As such, expect to pay a steep premium for it. The price isn\u2019t being made publicly available, but consider the regular, now puny Earth-bound Range Rover SV starts from \u00a3160k, and you\u2019ll get some idea how high this SV Ultra peaks.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
