A couple of weeks after announcing the return of the Skyline nameplate<\/a>, Nissan has unveiled another all-new car that uses one of its classic monikers.<\/p>\n

This time it\u2019s the turn of the Terrano to be reborn, with a plug-in hybrid SUV concept unveiled at the Beijing Auto Show and promises of a proper production version \u201cwithin one year\u201d.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Of course, the Terrano was the name given to the first two generations of Pathfinder outside of North America, while the Terrano II was a separate body-on-frame SUV from the 90s and early 2000s. Oh, and it was also used for a rebadged version of the Dacia Duster at one point. This new Terrano looks set to be reasonably rugged, with Nissan describing it as \u201caddressing the dual needs of outdoor adventure and urban commuting\u201d.<\/p>\n

From these images of the concept, we can see a properly boxy shape, plenty of protective plastic lower down and some excellent auxiliary lighting. There\u2019s also a full-size spare wheel on the back, topographic map details and a proper roof rack.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

No word on what\u2019s powering it other than confirmation that it\u2019s a plug-in hybrid setup, and while it\u2019ll definitely be available in China, Nissan has only mentioned that \u201cselected global markets\u201d will also be able to buy one.
