Among the new songs is his collaboration with Juanes, album title track \u201cAntes Que El Tiempo Se Vaya.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\t\u201cI felt that this was like my main message \u2014\u00a0and, more than my message, my sentiment,\u201d Fonseca explains to <em>Billboard Espa\u00f1ol<\/em> about the name of his new production, the first in his career that doesn\u2019t have a single-word title. \u201cI\u2019ve always sung about gratitude from many perspectives \u2014 gratitude for the earth, for family, for love \u2014 but as the years go by, you not only come to understand the value of time better, but also to cherish it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tHe continues: \u201cI\u2019m at a point in life where I feel like time has passed. That, to me, is like the seed of the song: one day you\u2019re in January and the next it\u2019s Christmas. I remember when we started writing it with Andy Clay, before Juanes joined the track \u2014 it was late November last year, and the conversation started like: \u201cIt\u2019s incredible that we\u2019re already in November! 2025 is about to end.\u201d That\u2019s how it began. Then, when Juanes joined, he also wrote a part of the lyrics.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tMusically, I felt that merengue done in my own way \u2014 because I wouldn\u2019t say it\u2019s pure merengue \u2014 was the right way to talk about something so transcendental and reflective with joy. It has a mix of accordion, Juanes\u2019 electric guitar solo, along with horns typical of merengue.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/article>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"pmc-fallback-list-item-wrap lrv-u-margin-b-2\">\n<article class=\"pmc-fallback-list-item\">\n<h2>\u201cNunca Me Fui\u201d (with Rub\u00e9n Blades)<\/h2>\n<div class=\"pmc-not-a-paywall\">\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tI\u2019ve been away from Colombia for 14 years, but every time I go back and start walking through the city, and every time I land, I have this feeling that I never left. That\u2019s the inspiration behind the song. <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tBut mostly, because I think music has the power to transport you \u2014 it happens to me that if I\u2019m anywhere and I hear \u201cLa Tierra del Olvido\u201d [by Carlos Vives], it immediately takes me back to that time in school when I dreamed about so many things, and it brings me back to very special moments of my homeland, of my country. I wanted to create that same feeling for people who are away from their country, who are chasing their dreams, often in difficult situations, but remembering that sense of belonging and nostalgia. I\u2019m sure that brings hope and good feelings.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tWhen the song was almost finished, I managed to send it to Rub\u00e9n Blades, and it was incredible because he quickly accepted the invitation. The following week, he was recording in the studio. He was so generous that I later told him, \u201cHey, I think it might work better if you sang this part and I sang this other part instead.\u201d And he said, \u201cPerfect.\u201d He went back to the studio and re-recorded it].<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tHe recorded in New York. He also wrote some parts of the lyrics, suggested other things for the arrangements. Honestly, he gave me incredible peace of mind while working on it, because you approach working with a master like Rub\u00e9n Blades very carefully, and then you find yourself with such an easygoing, relaxed person, which made the process even more inspiring. No egos, just, \u201cI love the song, I love the message it has\u201d \u2014 because that\u2019s what he told me \u2014 \u201cand I love participating in this, so let\u2019s do what the song asks for.\u201d That\u2019s basically what he said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\t\u201cNunca Me Fui\u201d is quite unique because, of course, it has salsa, but it also has accordion. It\u2019s not that the rhythms are vallenato or vallenato percussion, but it\u2019s like a hybrid between my tropical Latin sound and a more classic salsa. And above all, it has a lot of melancholy. It has a string arrangement in the middle that I love, and it\u2019s very Rub\u00e9n Blades in that sense. From the moment we started writing it, we almost wanted to pay tribute to his music \u2014 and then we ended up having him on the track.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \"><strong><em>Listen to the song here<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/article>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"pmc-fallback-list-item-wrap lrv-u-margin-b-2\">\n<article class=\"pmc-fallback-list-item\">\n<h2>\u201cAh\u00ed Estabas T\u00fa\u201d<\/h2>\n<div class=\"pmc-not-a-paywall\">\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tIt is a song that is very much Latin pop, written out of gratitude to life \u2014 and to God \u2014 for guiding me through a difficult personal and family time. I thought long and hard about whether or not to write it, because I wasn\u2019t sure if I wanted to put that into words; however, I eventually found the right language to express it without delving into details that, ultimately, concern only me. It was a major challenge in that sense \u2014 finding a way to put it out there as a personal necessity, yet without getting bogged down in excessive drama. <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tOn this track, I had the wonderful opportunity to write once again with Sara Schell \u2014 as well as with Andy Clay, who produced the entire album. But working with Sara \u2014 given her unique sensitivity, and the fact that we\u2019ve been writing together since my previous record \u2014 we were able to achieve exactly that. And yes, for me, it is a song that carries significant sentimental weight, and holds a deeply personal meaning within this album.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/article>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"pmc-fallback-list-item-wrap lrv-u-margin-b-2\">\n<article class=\"pmc-fallback-list-item\">\n<h2>\u201cLoco Enamorado\u201d<\/h2>\n<div class=\"pmc-not-a-paywall\">\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tIt\u2019s a merengue apambichao, yet it features the very sound I associate with the beginning of my career. Let\u2019s just say that for this album, I wrote nearly 30 songs, and ultimately narrowed it down to the 12 tracks included here. When I began sifting through the demos and figuring out the direction I wanted to take the album, \u201cLoco Enamorado\u201d seemed to reconnect me with that specific moment \u2014 a time filled with immense excitement and dreams of building a career and forging a sound of my own. I feel that \u201cLoco Enamorado\u201d serves as an essential piece of that puzzle, embodying the very sound I first began cultivating with tracks like \u201cTe Mando Flores,\u201d \u201cComo Me Mira\u201d and \u201cArroyito.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tOf course, I\u2019ve explored other genres, and experimented with various sonic styles throughout my career, but that particular sound \u2014 that seed first planted with \u201cTe Mando Flores,\u201d which invariably resurfaces across my albums, sometimes more prominently than others \u2014 feels undeniably present in \u201cLoco Enamorado.\u201d That is precisely why I chose it to be the opening track of the album. I co-wrote it with Nab\u00e1lez \u2014 a brilliant Colombian songwriter and artist \u2014 and Andy Clay.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/article>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"pmc-fallback-list-item-wrap lrv-u-margin-b-2\">\n<article class=\"pmc-fallback-list-item\">\n<h2>\u201cNo S\u00e9 Qu\u00e9 Extra\u00f1o M\u00e1s\u201d<\/h2>\n<div class=\"pmc-not-a-paywall\">\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tIt\u2019s one of my favorite songs on the album. It has a very unique backstory because when we first wrote it \u2014 I wrote it with Jos\u00e9 Luis Roma from R\u00edo Roma and with Andy Clay \u2014 we initially created a guitar-and-vocals version. It was so raw and painful that one day I told Andy: \u201cNo, we have to take it in a different direction.\u201d The song is about missing someone who is no longer around\u2026 \u201cToday I sat down to write a list of things I miss\/ I have so much inside me that I don\u2019t know where to start\/ And the road hasn\u2019t been easy this past year,\u201d [goes part of the lyrics]. When I heard that guitar-and-vocals version, I told Andy: \u201cI think this song could be the kind of thing that, if it really strikes a chord with someone, might hit them so hard that they wouldn\u2019t ever want to hear it again.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tSo I told him: \u201cNo, let\u2019s take it somewhere else \u2014 somewhere that also brings a sense of hope, good memories and joy amidst that melancholy.\u201d And that eventually led us to salsa. We only changed the rhythm. We didn\u2019t touch a single word of the lyrics because \u2014 well, I love them, and they touch my heart every time I hear them.
