MINNEAPOLIS \u2014 Denver starting power forward Aaron Gordon will miss Thursday\u2019s Game 3 of the Nuggets\u2019 first-round playoff series against the Minnesota Timberwolves because of a left calf injury, coach David Adelman said.<\/p>\n

Gordon, the heart and soul of the Nuggets since arriving in Denver during the 2020-21 season, played 37 minutes in a\u00a0Game 2 loss Monday<\/a>, and was on the floor at the end of the game. However, he appeared on the injury report with left calf tightness after practice on Wednesday. He was listed as questionable Thursday before being ruled out.<\/p>\n

Adelman did not name a starter replacement for Gordon during his pregame news conference but elected to start second-year forward Spencer Jones.\u00a0Fourth-year forward Peyton Watson, who often fills in for Gordon in the starting lineup, remains out due to a right hamstring strain.<\/p>\n

Gordon played in 36 games this season, the fewest in his 12-year career, as he was plagued by right hamstring and left calf injuries. He averaged 16.2 points and 5.8 rebounds in 28 minutes per game and is a valuable defender who often guards centers as well as forwards.<\/p>\n
