Demi Vollering launched a long-range move and fended off a late surge to win La Fl\u00e8che Wallonne Femmes in a wild ride up the Mur de Huy.<\/p>\n

Vollering went long on the steepest part of the Mur to gap dangerous rivals Pauline Ferrand-Pr\u00e9vot and Katarzyna Niewiadoma.<\/p>\n

Defending champion Puck Pieterse (Fenix-Premier Tech) didn\u2019t fold and clawed back to close the gap with 100 meters to go but it wasn\u2019t enough to deny Vollering the win.<\/p>\n

\u201cI am really happy to win. I have no idea what happened behind me because I never looked back until I saw Puck was coming and realized I still needed to make a sprint,\u201d Vollering said. \u201cI really trusted my own pace and I didn\u2019t want any regrets. I went full-gas after a perfect leadout from my teammates, and there was no looking back.\u201d<\/p>\n

Vollering looked to have the win in the bag when Pieterse exploded out of the final corner. Vollering checked over her shoulder and saw Pieterse closing in fast, but still had time to raise her arms in celebration.<\/p>\n

Paula Blasi (UAE Team ADQ), fresh off her Amstel Gold Race win, rounded out the podium in third.<\/p>\n

Niewiadoma later revealed her gearing was stuck in the big ring and she could attack with the cadence that she wanted to finish fourth at six seconds back.<\/p>\n

Seven-time winner Anna van der Breggen, a non-starter last year, was sixth in her first return to the race since her comeback in 2025.<\/p>\n

The victory is the sixth in 2026 for the FDJ United-SUEZ star in what\u2019s been a near-perfect season for Vollering.<\/p>\n

With the exception of Strade Bianche, when she was part of a group of chasers who steered off course to finish 20th, she\u2019s won or podiumed in every race she\u2019s started this season.<\/p>\n

Up next is Li\u00e8ge-Bastogne-Li\u00e8ge Femmes on Sunday, with Vollering the top favorite to win.<\/p>\n
