Hyundai bills it as an \u2018aero hatch\u2019 owing to its slippery shape and spacious interior, but it\u2019s not as low as a conventional supermini like an\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.carmagazine.co.uk\/car-reviews\/hyundai\/i20-hatchback\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">i20<\/a>\u00a0\u2013 nor indeed the Concept Three that previewed it \u2013\u00a0and it blurs the boundaries between Polo and Golf in terms of size.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<div class=\"mpu-inject show-for-medium-up hide-for-xlarge-up\">\n<div class=\"mpu-ad advert\"><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Inspired by Hyundai\u2019s steel-making roots, its introduces its\u00a0\u2018art of steel\u2019 design philosophy, with details \u2013 such as the way the B-pillar pulls over the shoulder line and the way the rocker cover stretches over the bonnet \u2013 looking as if steel has been draped over the body.\u00a0<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/car-images.bauersecure.com\/wp-images\/260467\/480x0\/082-hyundai-ioniq-3.jpg?scale=down\" alt class=\"wp-image-260498\" data-interchange=\"[https:\/\/car-images.bauersecure.com\/wp-images\/260467\/480x0\/082-hyundai-ioniq-3.jpg?scale=down, (default)], [https:\/\/car-images.bauersecure.com\/wp-images\/260467\/720x0\/082-hyundai-ioniq-3.jpg?scale=down, (medium)], [https:\/\/car-images.bauersecure.com\/wp-images\/260467\/1040x0\/082-hyundai-ioniq-3.jpg?scale=down, (large)]\"><\/figure>\n<div class=\"mpu-inject hide-for-medium-up\">\n<div class=\"mpu-ad advert\"><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<p>While Hyundai tries not to make its Ioniq models look too similar, this new car gets the firm\u2019s trademark pixel lighting front and rear, as well as four dots at either end of the car, said to\u00a0represent\u00a0a \u2018H\u2019 in Morse code.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Other noteworthy details include a ducktail spoiler, while the sloping window line gives more of an impression of a \u2018coupe\u2019.\u00a0The N-Line model, pictured, also gets an extended spoiler, different bumpers, a more aggressive\u00a0diffuser\u00a0and more gloss black trim.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Generous interior dimensions \u2013 and a huge boot\u00a0<\/h2>\n<p>Hyundai says it set out to make a proper five-seater with the Ioniq 3, something which\u00a0isn\u2019t\u00a0all that common in the small EV class. Hyundai says it engineered the Ioniq 3 to have this from the start.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">It uses Hyundai\u2019s E-GMP electric car platform\u00a0\u00a0<\/h2>\n<p>The Ioniq 3 uses Hyundai\u2019s dedicated E-GMP platform, though it features a 400-volt setup, rather than the more commonplace 800V setup found in the Ioniq 5. Much is shared with the new Kia EV2.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>There are two battery options \u2013 a 42.2kWh Standard Range) and 61kWh (Long Range), which offer claimed electric driving ranges of 214 and 308 miles, respectively. The Standard Range is the more powerful with 145bhp, with the\u00a0Long Range\u00a0model having only 133bhp. Optional 22kW AC charging is available, which\u00a0isn\u2019tvery common\u00a0in cars of this size, though 11kW is standard.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">It gets a brand-new infotainment system\u00a0<\/h2>\n<p>Hyundai is rolling out a new infotainment system to the Ioniq 3, called\u00a0Pleos\u00a0Connect, which is based on an Android Automotive infotainment system.
