The Call of Duty movie<\/a> got a significant update at CinemaCon 2026, with a release date confirming it\u2019s just over two years away.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

As revealed during Paramount\u2019s presentation at CinemaCon 2026<\/a>, the Call of Duty movie is set to hit theaters on June 30, 2028.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s worth noting that Activision, developer of the video game franchise, and Paramount, are saying the Call of Duty movie is untitled at this stage, so it may not simply be called Call of Duty when it comes out.<\/p>\n

As we know, Call of Duty is helmed by Peter Berg, who directed 2008\u2019s Hancock, 2012\u2019s Battleship, and 2018\u2019s Mile 22. Berg co-wrote the movie with Yellowstone’s Taylor Sheridan.<\/p>\n

Here\u2019s the official blurb:<\/p>\n

Paramount and Activision are developing and producing, with Paramount distributing, a live-action feature film based on Call of Duty, designed to thrill its massive global fan base by delivering on the hallmarks of what fans love about the iconic series, while boldly expanding the franchise to entirely new audiences.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

One of the most successful video game entertainment franchises of all-time, Call of Duty has topped more than 1 billion players and generated over $35 billion in revenue over its lifetime while driving pop culture conversations for over two decades.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

At CinemaCon, attendees were treated to a quick teaser for the movie, which featured game footage set to the tune of ‘Seven Nation Army.’ Berg appeared on camera saying he and Sheridan were working on the film. “Taylor and I are both deeply connected to the special ops community,” he said, promising to capture the reality of the soldier’s jobs “on a human level, but also bring amazing scale.”<\/p>\n

That\u2019s all we know for now. Characters, setting, and time period remain a mystery. We don\u2019t know if the movie is Modern Warfare or Black Ops aligned, or tells an entirely different story with brand new characters. I think it\u2019s safe to say there will be the odd explosion or two, though.<\/p>\n
