While we\u2019d already seen most of the year\u2019s newest products before touching down in California, Salsa saved a gem for us to check out at this year\u2019s Sea Otter Classic: a new 32\u2033 Fargo. The iconic adventure bike from the brand will eventually be available in both steel and titanium frames paired with carbon forks, beginning in fall 2026.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re building on the legacy of the bikepacking frame that has inspired long-haul rides all over the world by designing it around 32\u2033 wheels for more mixed-surface freedom and long, self-supported Adventure by Bike,\u201d writes Salsa.<\/p>\n

The brand claims that the 32\u2033 wheels \u201coffer better rollover, superior traction, allow for lower tire pressures, and carry more momentum. This adds up to a Fargo that rolls faster and farther on nearly all types of terrain.\u201d <\/p>\n

Most brands we\u2019ve seen launch 32er frames have noted that their bikes are only intended for riders 5\u2032 7\u2033 and taller. Salsa, on the other hand, says the Fargo will be available in small to extra large sizes, fitting riders from 5\u2032 2\u2033 to 6\u2032 7\u2033. The Fargo will also be compatible with both flat bars and drop bars. <\/p>\n

The new Fargo will feature a 67\u00b0 headtube angle and a 75\u00b0 seattube angle. It will ship with fixed UDH Alternator plates, providing 482mm chainstays. However, the chainstay length will be adjustable from 465mm to 482mm with aftermarket parts. <\/p>\n

The bike that we saw on display at Sea Otter is built with a carbon fork, Teravail Circos Wide TR rims laced with Berd cable spokes, and Teravail Cannonball 32\u00d72.2\u2033 TR tires. In addition to the Cannonball, Teravail also had a 32\u00d72.4\u2033 Camrock tire on display in the booth next door, and with the ample tire clearance in the Fargo frame, you could run the 2.4\u2033 version comfortably. The Fargo build featured a swanky limited edition SRAM Eagle Transmission 1987 Collection\u00a0drivetrain<\/a>, which is most definitely not<\/em> a stock option for any <\/em>bike, plus a dropper post.<\/p>\n

Unfortunately, you\u2019ll have to wait a while to upgrade your adventure bike. The Fargo won\u2019t be available until fall 2026, and based on the information currently available, only the framesets (which include a carbon fork) will be for sale at retailers, plus 32\u2033 wheels and tires from Teravail. It appears that currently, riders will have to partner with their local dealers on the rest of the build.<\/p>\n
