Maxxis is betting that 32-inch mountain bike wheels are going to be compelling for more than just cross-country racing. Today, the popular tire brand is announcing three new 32\u2033 mountain bike tire treads that move beyond fast rolling XC tires and into trail bike territory.<\/p>\n

A press release notes that \u201cMaxxis is looking further ahead with the introduction of its family of 32\u201d MTB tires. By increasing overall wheel diameter, the new platform delivers measurable gains in rollover capability, traction, and high-speed stability, particularly in rough terrain. While not intended to replace existing wheel sizes, 32\u201d tires offer a new option for riders and builders interested in maximizing momentum, smoothing trail feedback, and unlocking new riding possibilities.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Dissector is the brand\u2019s most aggressive 32er tire yet<\/h2>\n

Back in January, mountain bikers got a glimpse of the 32\u00d72.4\u2033 Maxxis Dissector when DirtySixer announced their MonsterEnduro bike. Historically, the Dissector has been billed as a tire that\u2019s suitable for many types of riding, from trail and enduro to even downhill. The key to that versatility is the variety of casing options on offer.<\/p>\n

For the 32\u2033 version, Maxxis is speccing their 60tpi EXO+ casing, which they\u2019ve previously classified as suitable for \u201cheavy-duty trail use.\u201d The 32\u00d72.4\u2033 Maxxis Dissector will be rated E50 for e-bike use, which means it\u2019s designed for e-bike speeds up to 50kph. Few brands are making 32er e-bikes at the moment \u2014 DirtySixer and Clydesdale are two \u2014 but this rating suggests others may be coming.<\/p>\n

A more aggressive Aspen tread option, and the downcountry Forekaster goes 32<\/h2>\n

In addition to the Dissector, Maxxis is adding the Aspen AT, a more aggressive version of the fast-rolling Aspen XC tire, and the Forekaster to their 32er tire lineup.<\/p>\n

\u201cDesigned to carry Aspen\u2019s signature speed into rougher and more variable terrain, the Aspen AT introduces an updated tread profile that improves control and confidence without sacrificing its racing pedigree,\u201d Maxxis shared in a press release. \u201cPositioned between pure race tires and more aggressive trail options, the Aspen AT is aimed at riders who want one tire that can handle more of what modern XC demands.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Maxxis Aspen AT will be offered in a single size, 32\u00d72.4\u2033, at launch. With the addition of the Aspen AT, the lineup of 32\u2033 Aspen tires is now four strong, and all versions are available today.<\/p>\n

Moving up the scale from the Aspen AT, the Maxxis Forekaster \u201cdowncountry\u201d slash short-travel trail bike tire is getting a 32\u2033 version too. The 32\u00d72.4\u2033 Forekaster is E50 rated and features an EXO casing.<\/p>\n

The 32\u2033 Maxxis Dissector and Forekaster tires will be available in the third quarter of 2026. It\u2019s likely we\u2019ll see more 32er trail bikes on the market at that time as well.<\/p>\n
