\n\t\u201cI\u2019m doing one that\u2019s going to be super egotistical, but probably the only person that I\u2019m a superfan of that I never met: Barack Obama,\u201d he said of the former president who included the Wu-adjacent Method Man and Mary J. Blige track \u201cI\u2019ll Be There For You\/ You\u2019re All I need\u201d on his 2016 summer playlist. \u201cBut I always remember [Quentin] Tarantino saying he was a \u2018rock & roll director.\u2019 Tarantino is a great name. I think Leonardo DiCaprio. I\u2019m gonna give you one more. How about LeBron James as a unique piece of culture?\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tRZA wasn\u2019t done, though. He asked the magazine if legendary agit rock bomb throwers Rage Against the Machine were in the Rock Hall \u2014\u00a0they are, they were inducted in 2023, though only guitarist Tom Morello showed up \u2014 so he said maybe that would make the most sense. \u201cWhat if Rage f\u2013kin\u2019 inducted us?\u201d he asked of the group who canceled what is very likely their last-ever tour in 2022 after reclusive singer Zack De la Rocha ruptured his Achilles tendon during a show early in the outing. \u201cIf they would come back out and say, \u2018I want to welcome my brothers back into it.\u2019 F\u2013kin\u2019 one day, do one concert to close that book. One night only. That would be crazy.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tThe group, who\u2019ve been eligible for induction since 2018, will be officially ushered into the Rock Hall later this year alongside Phil Collins, Billy Idol, Iron Maiden, Joy Division\/New Order, Oasis, Sade and Luther Vandross. RZA called the honor \u201cone of those pillars in life,\u201d noting that his first house he ever bought was in Cleveland and he\u2019s driven by and visited the Rock Hall \u201chundreds of times\u201d in the years since.<\/p>\n

\n\tDescribing how he found out about the honor, RZA said a friend invited him and his wife to dinner on Monday night and he noticed a bottle of champagne on the table. \u201cHe pops the bottle, pulls the glasses, and then my wife told me,\u201d he said. \u201cMy wife and I actually watched the East Coast\u00a0and\u00a0<\/em>West Coast version of\u00a0American Idol\u00a0<\/em>[to see the announcement Monday night]. Then I woke up [Tuesday] morning and the first thing my wife said was, \u2018Good morning, Rock & Roll Hall of Famer.\u2019 The child in me feels it.\u201d <\/p>\n

\n\tHe also noted that he\u2019s talked to every other member of the crew in some fashion in the days since and it\u2019s been all love. \u201cThe thanking each other. Knowing where we came from to where we\u2019re at and being grateful to each other,\u201d he said. \u201cEverybody just chimed in. \u2018Thank you, brother.\u2019 \u2018I love you, brother.\u2019 It was a lovefest.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tAnd while not everyone made it to the group\u2019s recent Australian tour, RZA said he fully expects the whole Clan to be there for the big night. \u201cI don\u2019t see nobody taking some type of boycott,\u201d he said. But when the magazine noted that Bruce Springsteen\u2019s E Street Band chewed up more than a half-hour when they were inducted in 2014 to notch the Hall\u2019s longest-ever acceptance monologue, RZA promised to keep things tight. <\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cSome of us could talk. Some of us don\u2019t talk,\u201d he said of the group that also includes, GZA, Method Mad, Raekwon, Ghostface Killah, Inspectah Deck, U-God, Masta Killa, Cappadonna; original member Ol\u2019 Dirty Bastard died in 2004 at age 35. \u201cI talk and it\u2019s done through the lyrics. So they\u2019ll probably nominate one of us. We\u2019ll probably have a conversation like, \u2018Who wants to talk? Let\u2019s regulate this.’\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tThe 2026 induction ceremony will take place Nov. 14 in Los Angeles, to be aired on ABC and Disney+ in December.<\/p>\n
