After years of delays, <em>Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse<\/em> is slowly crawling towards your eyeballs with a release set for June 18, 2027. That\u2019s still a long way away, of course, but producers\/writers Phil Lord and Chris Miller (fresh off the success of<em> Project Hail Mary<\/em>) didn\u2019t want to leave theater owners hanging in regard to the highly anticipated animated film and screened some brand-new footage at CinemaCon this week.<\/p>\n<div class=\"not-prose my-8 -mx-5 xs:max-w-xs xs:mx-auto\"><\/div>\n<p>Last year\u2019s CinemaCon was where we got our first, very brief, look at the film (along with its return to the release schedule), and this year we saw much, much more, showcasing just how epic things are about to get for Miles Morales and everyone in the Spider-Verse.<\/p>\n<div class=\"od-wrapper od-wrapper-both  od-background\">\n<div id=\"optidigital-adslot-Mobile_Pos1\" class=\"Mobile_Pos1 od-mobile\"><\/div>\n<div id=\"optidigital-adslot-Content_1\" class=\"Content_1 od-desktop\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-2000663500\" src=\"https:\/\/gizmodo.com\/app\/uploads\/2025\/09\/io9-2025-spoiler.png\" alt=\"Io9 2025 Spoiler\" width=\"2625\" height=\"514\"><\/p>\n<p>The movie picks up right where the last film left off, with Miles being captured by Prowler and Uncle Aaron in the other dimension. It\u2019s a bit of a rehash of that scene with a few new additions, but then Prowler-Miles asks Spider-Miles who he is and realizes they both say \u201cMorales\u201d in a different way. This starts a little back and forth where they point out small differences, and Prowler gets in a quick \u201cAre you bleeding from the armpits?\u201d joke.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMy dad is going to die,\u201d Miles explains, and Prowler asks how he would know that. \u201cTry me,\u201d he says. Miles then tries to explain canon events, and Prowler goes, \u201cOkay, you tried.\u201d He\u2019s confused. But Miles talks about how heroes have the same basic things happen to each other in every universe (which was largely covered in the previous movie) and casually mentions that he\u2019s Spider-Man, to which Prowler and the other Aaron laugh. That sounds so dumb, they say. What\u2019s a Spider-Man?<\/p>\n<div class=\"od-wrapper od-wrapper-both  od-background\">\n<div id=\"optidigital-adslot-Mobile_Pos2\" class=\"Mobile_Pos2 od-mobile\"><\/div>\n<div id=\"optidigital-adslot-Content_2\" class=\"Content_2 od-desktop\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>Miles\u2019 glitching stops the conversation. He says his atoms don\u2019t like being in this dimension, and Prowler says he doesn\u2019t like what his atoms are doing. They\u2019re going to do something to him when Miles says, \u201cI don\u2019t want to hurt you.\u201d You\u2019re chained to a bag, they explain. To which Miles says, \u201cDon\u2019t watch the mouth, watch the hands.\u201d He uses his electric powers and escapes.<\/p>\n<div class=\"od-wrapper od-wrapper-both  od-background\">\n<div id=\"optidigital-adslot-Mobile_Pos3\" class=\"Mobile_Pos3 od-mobile\"><\/div>\n<div id=\"optidigital-adslot-Content_3\" class=\"Content_3 od-desktop\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>\u201cLet\u2019s do this one last time,\u201d we hear, and it\u2019s young Aaron and Jeff, as seen in this image. We even see his friends from the first movies. Peter says, \u201cHam, hold my baby.\u201d \u201cGladly,\u201d Spider-Ham says. \u201cBut I\u2019m all out of milk.\u201d<\/p>\n<div class=\"od-wrapper od-wrapper-both  od-background\">\n<div id=\"optidigital-adslot-Mobile_Pos4\" class=\"Mobile_Pos4 od-mobile\"><\/div>\n<div id=\"optidigital-adslot-Content_4\" class=\"Content_4 od-desktop\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>The crazy montage continues as Spider-Punk lays it out. \u201cSo you\u2019re going to save your dad, beat Spot, and shake Miguel\u2019s whole game by yourself?\u201d As this is happening, there are a lot of colorful, quick cuts, including an image of Miguel looking out over the city as a ton of portals open like in <em>Avengers: Endgame.<\/em> We also see Spot, who looks like a huge mess of black lines, walking around. There are multiple versions of Times Square, what appears to be multiple people flying in space (maybe?), and finally, a line from Miles\u2019 mom. \u201cYou\u2019re not tough,\u201d she says. \u201cYou\u2019re strong.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Honestly, it was almost too much to take in, and we wish you could see it. Hopefully, we\u2019ll get a tease in a few months when that other <em>Spider-Man<\/em> movie comes to theaters.
