The arrests came just a day after a 20-year-old man was arrested for allegedly throwing a Molotov cocktail at Altman\u2019s home and then driving to the OpenAI headquarters to attack the building. Federal charges were filed against the 20-year-old on Monday.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOn April 12, 2026, at approximately 2:56 a.m., San Francisco Police officers responded to Russian Hill regarding a suspicious occurrence of possible shots fired,\u201d a statement from the San Francisco Police Department reads.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThrough the course of the investigation, officers learned that a vehicle with two occupants drove past a residence around the time of the possible shooting. Investigators assigned to the Special Investigation Division (SID) took over the investigation and determined the vehicle belonged to 25-year-old Amanda Tom of San Francisco,\u201d the statement continues.<\/p>\n<p>Tom and 23-year-old Muhamad Tarik Hussein were arrested without incident and three firearms were seized, according to police.<\/p>\n<p>The police statement didn\u2019t go into detail and SFPD didn\u2019t respond to questions Monday, but the San Francisco Standard reports that a \u201cperson in the passenger seat put their hand out the window and appeared to fire a round,\u201d near Altman\u2019s property. The information reportedly came from surveillance footage and Altman\u2019s security team.<\/p>\n<p>Altman\u2019s home was first attacked Friday when 20-year-old Daniel Moreno-Gama of Texas allegedly threw an incendiary device before making his way to OpenAI\u2019s headquarters and hitting the glass doors with a chair. The criminal complaint filed in federal court Monday says that he wanted to \u201cto burn it down and kill anyone inside,\u201d though that doesn\u2019t appear to be a direct quote and was summarized by security at OpenAI.<\/p>\n<p>The complaint states that authorities removed \u201cincendiary devices, a jug of kerosene, a blue lighter, and a document,\u201d from Moreno-Gama\u2019s possession. The document is identified as a \u201cthree-part series\u201d authored by Moreno-Gama that allegedly says he killed or attempted to kill \u201cVictim 1,\u201d presumably Altman.<\/p>\n<p>Moreno-Gama apparently wrote in opposition to AI and multiple executives at AI companies, though Gizmodo has not been able to independently verify the contents of the document. He allegedly had a list of board members and CEOs at AI companies as well as investors.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">\u201cAlso if I am going to advocate for others to kill and commit crimes, then I must lead by example and show that I am fully sincere in my message,\u201d Moreno-Gama allegedly wrote. Another part of the document allegedly included the line \u201cSome more words on the matter of our impending extinction.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Another part of the document addressed to Victim 1 allegedly includes the line \u201cIf by some miracle you live, then I would take this as a sign from the divine to redeem yourself\u2026\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Some folks who are worried about AI\u2019s potential dangers have distanced themselves from the violence of recent days while often putting the hypothetical fears into what they believe is important context.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"css-1jxf684 r-bcqeeo r-1ttztb7 r-qvutc0 r-poiln3\">\u201cI maintain that violence is *never* acceptable. It\u2019s immoral. But others will naturally think, \u2018I\u2019m in imminent mortal danger, and the CEOs aren\u2019t going to stop, so what other choice do I have?,&#8217;\u201d wrote Dr. Emile P.
