Armenia&#8217;s Syunik region which connects Azerbaijan to its Nakhchivan exclave. <\/p>\n<p>Hajiyev underlined the fast developing economic cooperation between Azerbaijan and Armenia stating that \u201cthese include bilateral trade, transit shipments to Armenia via Azerbaijan, and people-to-people contacts, all of which reflect the concept of the economic dividends of peace.\u201d The Peace Initiative Bridge includes multiple participants from the two countries\u2019 civil society who visit each other to conduct the ongoing peace dialogue by addressing all common issues openly and in an atmosphere of trust.In an answer to Euronews, Armenia\u2019s Areg\u00a0Kochinyan,\u00a0president of the Armenian Council and the Armenian coordinator of the Peace Initiative Bridge, said the two\u00a0countries have to deal\u00a0with a\u00a0\u201cgigantic amount of\u00a0trauma,\u201d as both nations are making significant efforts to move on as part of their historic peace agreement.However, he added that\u00a0\u201cthe\u00a0normalistion\u00a0and the peace in South Caucuses is well-needed in the West, in Europe, in the United States and that\u2019s partially the reason why we have seen this level of interest of the\u00a0United\u00a0States in the region.\u201d\u00a0\u00a0On Azerbaijan\u2019s side, Farhad Mammadov,\u00a0director of the\u00a0Center\u00a0for Studies of the South Caucasus\u00a0and Azerbaijan\u2019s coordinator of the Peace Initiative Bridge, said that\u00a0\u201cthe\u00a0conflicts\u00a0in the region did not have a negative effect on the peace-building process.\u201d\u00a0\u00a0\u201cThis is a two-way peace-building process and it is autonomous,\u201d he added.\u00a0\u00a0The focus of Saturday\u2019s meeting in Gabala was on building momentum for the ongoing peace process between Armenia and Azerbaijan.\u00a0\u00a0Armenia\u2019s\u00a0Lusine Kharatyan, writer and cultural anthropologist as well as member of the Peace Bridge Initiative,\u00a0told Euronews that \u201cit is extremely important to continue these\u00a0talks\u00a0in this world where violence and conflict\u00a0grows\u00a0around us, so it\u2019s very important to keep the track of peace.\u201d\u00a0\u201cI think the talks went very well because we were able to discuss very important and sensitive issues for both societies and do it very deeply and very sensitively towards each other,\u201d she added.\u00a0\u00a0Eleonora Sargsyan from Armenia, a youth worker and member of the Peace Bridge Initiative said that \u201cfor 30 years, we\u2019ve lived with closed\u00a0borders\u00a0and we haven\u2019t had the chance\u00a0of \u00a0structured\u00a0dialogue, which created a framework of mutual dehumanisation.\u201d\u00a0\u00a0\u201cI\u00a0believe that one of the primary\u00a0objectives\u00a0of peacebuilding initiatives and any civil society initiatives that\u00a0untites\u00a0Armenian and Azerbaijani experts is to start the\u00a0process of\u00a0rehumanisation.\u201d\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0In its turn, Azerbaijan\u2019s representatives underlined the importance to both countries to deepen the dialogue at civil society level. \u00a0Orkhan\u00a0Amashov, Azerbaijan\u2019s participant of the Peace Bridge Participant, described the discussions as being \u201cincredibly comprehensive and wide-ranging.\u201d\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u201cThe\u00a0participants here are to prepare their respective societies for that\u00a0ultimate eventuality \u2013 a peace agreement \u2013 and its consequences.\u201d ,\u00a0he added.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Ramil\u00a0Iskandarli,\u00a0chairman\u00a0of the Board of Azerbaijan\u2019s National NGO Forum, and member of the Peace Bridge Initiative,\u00a0described the symbolism\u00a0of both sides crossing each other\u2019s borders for peace talks.\u00a0\u00a0\u201cBoth\u00a0I and (the) other group members crossed the border between Azerbaijan and Armenia twice and our Armenian colleagues did the same to come to Gabala,\u201d he said.\u00a0He added that \u201cthis\u00a0particular meeting\u00a0is important because it\u00a0represents\u00a0the fourth\u00a0step\u00a0actually.
