The album was compiled by British <em>Vogue<\/em> darkroom assistant Roland Haupt between 1943 and \u201949; Haupt developed film by both Miller and Beaton when they worked for <em>Vogue<\/em> magazine during this time period.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tThe deal was brokered by the London-based photography dealer Michael Hoppen, who was approached about nine months ago by Haupt\u2019s descendants. (Haupt died in the mid-1960s.) For these reasons, they ultimately chose the Beaudliean Libraries. The Haupt relatives\u2019 relationship with the city of Oxford didn\u2019t hurt, either, nor did the library\u2019s \u201cextraordinarily competent\u201d conservation department.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tThe album, Hoppen notes, is in overall great condition, but some contract sheets have been damaged by the high acid content of the pages on which the photos have been mounted.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/article>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"pmc-fallback-list-item-wrap lrv-u-margin-b-2\">\n<article photographer in Europe, publishing searing documentary photographs in British\u00a0<em>Vogue<\/em>\u00a0during and after World War II.\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/article>\n<\/li>\n<li
